The REAL reason you can't stick with your New Year Resolutions

,
We're three days into the new year.
And it's safe to say that the "new year energy" is still in the atmosphere.
And most people, like you, are probably still feeling highly motivated to go out and conquer the year — especially with their new year resolutions/goals.
That's all well and good.
The only problem is in a few days, weeks, or months (depending on who is reading this), that motivation will fizzle away.
And when that time comes, you'll need something else to keep you going.
Scratch that, make it two things because a second thing just popped into my head right now.
The first thing you'll need is DISCIPLINE.
Here's the cold hard truth.
The reason why you find it difficult to stick to your new year resolutions is not because they are hard to stick to.
It's because you lack discipline.
It's also probably the same reason why you start things and never get around to completing them.
Unsurprisingly, it's also the reason you never seem to be able to fully maximize your potential.
Let's face it.
If you were to somehow magically develop a crazy level of discipline and work ethic right now, your life will literally turn on its head positively.
You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.
But I guess most people find it easier to just let themselves slip back into their old bad habits of procrastination and laziness.
But beyond that, the reason most people slip up easily is because they also lack something else which is the second thing I mentioned that you need to keep going.
And that thing is SYSTEMS.
Most people rely on motivation to get things done.
And when it fails, they try unsuccessfully to be disciplined and keep going.
But more often than not, they eventually end up falling by the wayside.
Not because they don't have the desire to do those things.
But because they go about it the wrong way.
They focus only on trying to achieve their goals.
And that's where they get it all wrong.
You see, goals are all about the end results.
Systems on the other hand are all about the processes that lead to you achieving the goals.
Creating systems is also all about focusing on the small actions that lead to you achieving that goal...
...and creating the right kind of environment that enables you to achieve it.
If you can get your systems dialed in, being disciplined becomes easier.
Not to mention you will eventually end up achieving your goal because you have shifted your focus to what is actually important — the process.
It's the process that leads to results.
But more importantly, even if you don't end up getting the results you desire, you still win.
Because you get changed as a person in the process.
You never remain the same when you follow processes.
One thing that is inevitable about focusing on the process is growth.
Goal setting isn't about achieving goals.
It's about who you become in trying to achieve those goals.
Setting a goal to make N1 million in a month isn't about the money.
It's about becoming someone who has the capacity, skills or ideas to make N1 million in a month.
Setting a goal to become physically fit isn't about being physically fit.
It's about becoming the kind of person who has the determination and discipline to become physically fit.
Having a goal to get mentored by a highly valuable person isn't about getting the mentorship.
It's about becoming the kind of person who has the right qualities to be mentored by such a person.
Do you get the gist now?
Good.
Because I want you to focus on building on these two areas this year, especially if you want to achieve those goals you have set for the year.
Discipline and Systems.
Hack these two things and you have conquered 2025 already.
Because nothing will be able to stop you.
I'm rooting for you .
Go forth and conquer 2025. 🫱🏾🫲🏾
