The Beauty of This Privileged Vocation

I heard the comment as everyone was leaving.
"This has been such a good day.
We are so happy."
The rain hadn't seemed to dampen anyone's spirits.
Yesterday was our annual picnic for Christian Aid Ministries here in Kenya.
We love spending the day together with our American & national staff and their families.
We drank chai.
We visited about life.
We played games.
There was alot of laughter.
The day was filled with so much joy.
More than one person told us they never went to a picnic before they worked for CAM.
Though we have different homelands being made in the image of God gives us a common bond.
We are united by our vision to be God's channel of love in this land.
"Your and Luke's family has grown so big."
Pastor Amos smiled and waved his arms to show he meant everyone who was there.
He's so right.
The beauty of this privilege isn't lost on us.
"In a world so torn apart by rivalry, anger, and hatred, we have the privileged vocation to be living signs of a love that can bridge all divisions and heal all wounds."
Henri Nouwen
What a good God we serve!
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.
And be thankful." Col. 3:16
