Hi, and Happy Monday!

We had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Redza Minhat recently, and, boy, were we starstruck! This was part of our collaboration with TalentCorp Malaysia, where we are exploring the lives of the Malaysian diaspora living abroad. We will spare most of the insights for TalentCorp's official article soon, but we wanted this share one important nugget from our conversation with Redza.

Ever heard the famous saying,

Find a work that you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

When you enjoy what you do at work, it will motivate you to do more and be better at your job. It helps to keep the Monday blues at bay, and you will be more fulfilled with your accomplishments.

Finding a job that you are fully passionate about is most people's dream. Of course we would all want to do what we love.

But, realistically, it's not as easy as it is.

In some cases, passion alone is not enough to sustain one's living. In other cases, pursuing your passion may even make you hate it even more, as you may feel forced to do it (rather than doing it for fun).

This is where it is important for you to find a balance between pursuing your passion and being realistic.

Take Redza, for instance. Professionally, he works for Bank Negara Malaysia (a fact that he said is unknown to most people outside his personal circle). But his passion lies within the arts, in acting and writing plays (which is what most Malaysians know him for). He manages to balance both his professional and passion careers, despite them being on completely different ends of the spectrum. And both are thriving and growing well, which is a hugeee plus!

Find opportunities to grow, and make the most out of what you have.

To be able to succeed, you need to be flexible. You need to take your chances and grab any opportunities to grow, whether it be at work or outside of work.

And, sometimes, life deals you a bad hand, and you just have to find a way to make the most out of what you're given.

Not every job will be your dream job.

Not every project you work on will be a breeze.

Not every client or colleague will be your best friend.

And that's OK.

Find out what works and what doesn't, and focus on the things that you can control and do to make things work. Enjoy the parts that you do enjoy, and don't worry too much about the parts that you dislike.

Don't worry too much about the little things that are outside of your control. Instead, focus on the things that you can have an impact on and spend your energy on that.

Until we see you again in the next issue, here is a question for you to ponder for the upcoming week.

What is one thing that I am currently working on, and how will I know if I have been successful in doing it?

Stay awesome, take care, and have a wonderful July ahead!

Best,

Kejar Kerjaya
