Recently we had a client ask about follower growth.

This is an interesting question for 2 reasons.

1. It's a lot harder to gain followers these days. Especially on interest based platforms like TikTok. I hardly choose to follow people- even my favorite creators, because the algorithm shows me their content regardless.

2. With interest based platforms like TikTok, you don't need followers to get seen. It's why I love the platform so much as a marketer. TikTok doesn't care about who you "know". The algorithm shows your content to people who it thinks will find it relevant.

So what does this mean?

Create content for the people you're trying to reach. If your customer is homeowners in Greenville, South Carolina, your content should speak directly to those people.

Don't worry about follower growth. Focus more on engagement, reach and the demographics of the people your content is getting in front of. The follower growth will come.
