3 things to take away from the shut down (you're going to want to hear the 3rd one)
Oct 05, 2021 7:21 pm
On a scale from 1-10 how nervous did the FB/IG shut down make you yesterday? It's not the first time a social media platform has glitched on a large scale....but it actually was a little serious.
Here are a few things to take away from the day:
- Are you growing your email list? Unless the whole internet disappears, an email list is the only way you can ensure you'll be able to keep in touch with your customers and community.
- Since FB and IG are both the same company, if you haven't diversified, you definitely should. Get your business on more than one platform. This way if one goes down, you have others you can count on.
- If you think a social media platform is down....head over to Twitter. You can always get fast up to date info by searching hashtags like #instagramdown. Plus the memes are hilarious. Check out this feed from yesterday. Here's a screenshot-- but so many brands got involved, it was gold. The same type of things happens on Tik Tok. It's important for brands to be aware and stay involved and on their toes. (17) Twitter on Twitter: "hello literally everyone" / Twitter

Content ideas for 10/11-10/15
National Work and Family Month
It's a fact that most business owners in our modern era are trying to balance work and family. Life seems to constantly ebb and flow between these two factors, and the struggles associated with maintaining a work-life balance make talking and publishing Reels about it very relatable. Relatability is what leads to a great viral video. Incorporating family life into your online social platforms for business is a great way to relate to your audience more personally.
Mon 11- #ItsMyPartyDay Social media is just like one big party, right? Well, then there are no excuses needed to prompt and stage your party on a Monday. If you have an outstanding employee in need of recognition, celebrate them with a party. Make it fun and festive, and get it on video. Use a catchy song or fun sound and use the hashtag!
Tues 12- What are three mistakes your potential client is making? Three things they are currently doing that your product or service would benefit from. Create a Reel with the title '3 Mistakes You Are Making' and act them out on video or add text bubbles and point to them. This is a great hook line, and it's a different angle on your sales pitch that helps make viewers more aware of what you offer.
Wed 13- #DayForFailure People love transparency. Dig deep and think of a time you failed or were disappointed, then end it on a positive note. Using video when sharing like this is very raw and can give a layer of vulnerability to your story, which intrigues people when scrolling. Don't forget to turn on the auto-captions in your IG Reels editor; captions are a real scroll stopper. As people try to catch the gist of it, they tend to be reeled into the message. Or that's the goal. If you are having trouble reaching this goal, send me a message, I would be happy to help!
Thurs 14- Try your hand at a jumping transition video. Visualize where you were when the dream of your business first came to mind. What were you wearing, where were you working? Dress up like that and recreate your humble beginnings. Then, film yourself now in your current work environment, rocking it. Pick a song or sound that matches your vibe and pick out some stunning hashtags. If you need a few to get you started, reach out here!
Fri 15- #BossDay Are you the boss? It's time to shine. It would be a great day to do a day-in-the-life video. The day before today, keep your phone with you throughout the day and try to remember to take short snippets of your day as you go through it as the boss of your company. This has the potential to be funny if you decide to get creative with it. Possibly set timers to remind yourself to capture quick 5-10 second videos and fuse them in a video editor.
