It’s (Pretty Much) My Favourite Time of Year!! + A New Name??

Hey, peeps! Happy October!

I know I am sending you all more than one email this month, but I promise this won’t become a habit—I just have very poor calendar skills. My bad.

First off, I wanna appreciate the gorgeousness of fall, okay? My family and I went hiking a little while ago. I just about died (barely an exaggeration; the trail was basically like a mountain gorge filled with rocks of all shapes and sizes, and with my lung issues, there were times I thought I wouldn’t ever be able to breathe normally again!). But the v~i~e~w… sooo worth it!!

It was well worth the climb.

But the title of this newsletter doesn’t come from my love for fall. It’s beautiful, but not my favourite season. Nope, my (pretty much) favourite time of year is November.

I know what you’re thinking.

“November is the most disagreeable month in the whole year,” said Margaret, standing at the window one dull afternoon, looking out at the frostbitten garden.

“That’s the reason I was born in it,” observed Jo pensively, quite unconscious of the blot on her nose.

“If something very pleasant should happen now, we should think it a delightful month,” said Beth, who took a hopeful view of everything, even November.

(Little Women fans, can you tell me what chapter this is from without looking it up?)

Well, I happen to have very pleasant news to make your November a delightful month.

It’s finally here! We’ve had mini-camps throughout the year but November is THE BIG CAMP and we are soooo excited. I absolutely love KDWC. I’ve participated in Camp NaNo + NaNoWriMo and private writing camps but I can tell you this beats all. We have sooo much fun and help each other so much! If you’re interested, here’s where you can find all about KDWC:

I am super excited about this camp because I am HOPING to finish Colour Red!!! I’m about 75% through right now but I found some things that needed addressing, so I am going back through and adding new scenes + changing old ones. I’m actually writing a lot of the scenes from Matt/Officer Randall’s POV first and then writing them from Jay’s, which is showing me tiny mistakes I had to fix (y’all ever had to research how small handcuffs can get? I’m so annoyed I had to use zip-ties in this story because they give me such a bad-guy vibe. I blame Emily Abbott). Anyways, all that means we are getting extra short stories… You didn’t know about that, did you? Well, surprise! There’s gonna be one or two collection of short story collection accompaniments to the Colours of Life Series—all from the Randalls’ POV and some special star guests I can’t reveal at present. ;)

I’m just bubbling over with excitement, guys! The end is getting so close. I’ll even announce to you that I am hoping to get beta copies/ARCs sent out late this year and start working on the prequel, Colour of Nativity, so that I can release both books early in 2022… *screams*

Anyways, that’s enough fangirling from me. Tell me something you’re excited about!

Oooo. Just remembered something. Before we go... I am planning to give this newsletter an actual name. What do you think of this?

Ah! vous dirai-je is an old French folksong sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Ah! vous dirai-je, maman,

Ce qui cause mon tourment?

Papa veut que je raisonne

Comme une grande personne.

Moi, je dis que les bonbons

Valent mieux que la raison!

Oh! Shall I tell you, Mama,

What is causing my torment?

Papa wants that I reason

Like a big person.

Me, I say that the candies

Are worth more than reason!

Evidently, this isn’t exactly English, but it’s an exact translation, haha. Mozart actually wrote some variations on this song and I am quite familiar with those, thanks to my mother playing it constantly in the car when we drove to our LSQ lessons back in the day…

Anyways, I thought ah! vous dirai-je + the music really captured the style of my newsletters… rambling, bubbling, and fangirly. ;P What do you think? I had another idea in mind too, but I need to think it over a bit before I share it… ;)

And now I am officially done 😇 Have an ice cream & a lovely day!
