It’s October, in case you didn’t notice. ;P I had big plans for October, many of which included this newsletter. As you can see, that didn’t quite pan out. I was very sick (nope, not Covid; I got tested to find out!) and had some family/life happenings which prevented me from doing as much as I’d have liked. Regardless, here are some updates and pictures for you all. I promise it’s not gonna be a crazy long newsletter though ;)

That’s right. In case you missed the memo, FFF is here! This year I am an official blogger and I couldn’t be more excited. I even have a new book coming out this week, and it’s gonna be free. Click here to be redirected to the party!

I am honoured to be a part of the Write for Life Blog Tour. It’s the launching of two epic pro-life novels, Sustainer’s Smile & To Save a Life. There have been some great posts coming out. Here’s a link to the blog tour and my own post, Why I’m Pro-Life.

There’s an Instagram challenge on as well, so go check that out!

As stated above, there is a lot that I am planning for this newsletter and my blog and business and Instagram. I hope to do a solo business retreat very soon and work all that stuff out. Prayers are appreciated ;)

We took some family pictures while my grandparents were here. I got a few shots of myself but they didn’t turn out great. Hopefully this week or the next I will get a photoshoot with my copyediting certificate. That was supposed to happen back in June, when I graduated, but the certificate didn’t get to me till late August/early September, soooo… yeah. ;P

Looking over the responses to my newsletter, I concluded you guys would like freebies and extra goodies (how surprising, haha). I am in the process of creating those, but for now, here’s a snippet from my current project, The Colour Red. I am about 66% though rewriting/editing it, and I am loving it so much!

It was the nightmare that woke him.

He was jolted awake with a sobbing cry, and it took him a moment to realize it had come from his own lips. In that moment a pair of arms he knew well wrapped around him, and Leeam’s voice was murmuring comfortingly in his ear—Leeam, whose voice was soft and wide-awake, as if he’d spent all night watching over Jay.

Jay grasped one sinewy forearm and held on. Leeam was strong, and that was soothing. Dimly, far back in his memory, Jay remembered being held by a pair of arms that were very big, strong, warm, loving… He was sure that was Dad’s arms. Nothing could quite equal that embrace. Leeam’s hugs were wonderful, and yet at times something deep inside Jay still craved that powerful, secure, comforting, fatherly clasp… a clasp he knew he would never experience again.

“Are you all right?” Leeam was whispering softly. “Do you need to talk about it?”

Jay shook his head and burrowed into Leeam’s arms. He didn’t want to think about it. He just wanted to be loved and soothed and made to forget. He ached all over from his beating of the day before, and he longed for oblivious sleep to rescue him again.

Leeam held him close. Just over his breath he slowly began to sing a song—the song he so often sung, the song he loved—a plaintive, haunting song that left Jay on the brink of tears, and brought a wistful, peaceful look to Leeam’s eyes.

And I’m going to leave you with a question. I was inspired to write a post on tips for reviewing books (along the lines of this post). What are some questions you have about reviewing books or needs you have when reviewing books?

Have a lovely day, friends!
