Premium or Luxury Cruise Lines

Hello Traveler,

I just stepped off the Oceania Insignia, and I’ll be honest: it’s hard to go back to "big ship" cruising after experiencing this.

While I love the energy of premium lines like Celebrity or Princess, moving up to a luxury line like Oceania is a total game-changer. If you’ve been wondering if the upgrade is worth it, here is exactly what sets a ship like the Insignia apart:

1. True Intimacy (No Crowds)

With only 684 guests, there are no lines. No fighting for deck chairs, no 20-minute waits for elevators, and no "cattle call" Shore Excursions. It feels like a private club where the staff knows your name by day two.

2. The "Finest Cuisine at Sea"

This isn’t just a marketing slogan. Every specialty restaurant—from the authentic Italian at Toscana to the classic Polo Grillsteakhouse—is included in your fare. There’s no "nickel and diming" for a world-class meal. Imagine a poolside surf and turf burger? Waygu beef with lobster medallions!

3. Boutique Port Access

Because the Oceania is smaller, the ships tuck into tiny, charming harbors that the mega-ships simply can't reach. Docking near the heart of the action, saving hours of transit time.

4. The "Your World Included" Value

One of the best perks? So much is already covered. Your gratuities, unlimited Starlink WiFi, and all specialty coffees and sodas are included. It makes for a much more relaxing "checkout" on the final morning.

Whether you’re a foodie, a lover of quiet luxury, or just someone who wants to skip the crowds, the Oceania offers a sophisticated way to see the world.

I was quite pleased with my small ship cruise. I did not miss large crowds or lines. Sunbeds were easily had. Gelato was served poolside, and very nice pre dinner lounge with live music. It felt relaxed and sophisticated.

With smaller ships comes fewer bars and lounges yet it made it easier to have conversations with fellow guest. Daytime activities were interesting. They had spelling bees where you had to come up with the correct spelling of normally misspelled words. Or how about a nice needlepoint project or bracelet making.

All in all a very nice week. Pricing for a small

ship luxury cruise is not as expensive as you may think given the inclusions and country club atmosphere. Treat yourself, whether it be Oceania or similar brands like Azemara or Explora, luxury is luxury.

Let me plan you next special luxury vacation.
