This past week I was reminded again how much travel impacts our fond memories. Two years ago, we traveled the Icefield Parkway from Banff to Jasper, Alberta Canada. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful with each turnout or boardwalk. We took the time to have a small picnic lunch in the city park in Jasper of which consisted of PB&J no less. The scenery, the mountains and the fresh air will always remain in my mind. Sadly, a few days ago the city of Jasper had a wild fire that decimated many homes and historical sites. The Crown Jewel of the Canadian Rockies is Jasper National Park. I will be forever grateful that I took this drive and saw this beautiful gem in Canada.

A further reminder about how important it is to make memories now, comes after a horrible accident of a dear friend this past week. She was involved in an accident that killed the driver who was the mother of three children in the car. Luckily my friend survived this tragedy without too many injuries. What a lucky person she was. But the fact is we do not know when the end of our days will come, and the importance of making memories now. I am thankful that my friend will be able to make her own lasting memories.

What’s going on in cruising this week:

Holland America has their promotion called Have It All – which consists of beverages, wifi, gratuities, and specialty dining. Book by July 31. Some very nice itineraries.

Virgin Voyages In the Fall of 2025, they will be sailing from four North American ports. Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle. They will continue to operate in the Mediterranean. Virgin has some great Fall - 5 night sailings from Miami. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the brand and get $100 sailors loot! No casinos and No kids on Virgin Voyages!

How about sailing with me on the Sun Princess Dec 7? The ship has rave reviews and is coming to Ft Lauderdale this Fall. This is a Western Caribbean sailing, balcony cabin, Princess Plus package all for $3488, two people! This is a great time and great price to try this new ship!

What about making a memory with River Cruising? Last Fall I sailed with Ama Waterways and really enjoyed the small quaint cities, calm and smooth cruising on the river, excellent cuisine and delightful excursions included in cruise fare. I think sailing with friends on a river cruise is an excellent way to create wonderful memories!

Strasbourg, France

I am still seeing great pricing on the NCL EPIC, from Rome to Port Canveral Oct 17. This is a Trans Atlantic sailing 13 nights. I checked one way airfares to Rome and they were under $500 per person. A balcony cabin, gratuities, three specialty dining, $50 shore excursion, beverage package and 300 minutes WIFI was about $3000 for two people. Now that is a way to make a memory with someone special or with a group of friends!
