Can you pursue Robotics with a mechanical engineering or electrical engineering background?

Hi ,

I did my undergrad in India and I remember the application process. There is a big focus on marks (12th, 10th, entrance exams, etc) and your background.

In India, you have to come from a specific background (Science) to pursue Engineering. You have to have specific undergrad degree to pursue a certain masters degree.

And then I came to the US. I was blown away by how you could be from any background and pursue a masters degree in another area. For example you can have a bachelors in mechanical and do masters in Robotics OR have a bachelors in CS and pursue a masters in Aerospace.

So please don't worry about your undergrad background when planning to pursue a masters in US. Most university will list a few undergrad degrees they look at but remember those are guidelines, not hard set rules!

Now the 2nd thing about switching backgrounds is how to have a succeed?

For example, if you want to go from Mechanical to Robotics.

There are challenges, advantages and hidden opportunities!

I talk about it in this video: Click here for video
