I wish communication was taught in school like Science and Maths. It is one skill that can change multiple aspects of your life.

In robotics/ tech companies, you will have stand up meetings. This is a meeting where you give updates on what you have worked on in the past few days and what you plan to work on in the next few days.

Now here is the thing your manager is managing multiple people. Not everyone knows everything about your project.

You should be able to talk about high level problem you are working on and the correct amount of depth on your current task that helps solve that problem.

Often I will see co-workers drop in random sentences and the manager has to ask - why are you working on that?

So in a corporate setting, you can't just always say the technical part you are working on, you have to be able to give breadth and depth of your work based on the listener.
