Hard Work vs Smart Work // Robotics Newsletter Vol 30

Hi ,
I had an interesting conversation with a friend recently. We have all heard at some point that you have to do the work, invest time in building a skill. We have often heard or been compliment for being a hard worker.
But in reality it is not hard work, it is smart work that helps you build a skill. And I am guilty of falling into this trap as well.
Let me give an example of how I made this mistake. I was practicing leetcode for interview in grad school. I was solving 5 problems a day every day but still not doing well in interviews. The thing was I was only doing the easy ones. I should have been doing 2 easy and 1 medium/hard problem. That way I am challenging myself and becoming better.
So if you want to develop a skill, it is not just about working on it everyday. Make sure you are doing the difficult exercise as well.

📖 The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley - it is a mystery novel where a sister just arrived at his brother's apartment and he is missing. I love how the story unravels and you get to see everyone's perspective. A good number of twists in the end as well.
