Do less // Robotics Newsletter Vol 103

Hi,

If you tell someone your goal, chances are they will give you a long list of things you should be doing. It is rare that someone will say, "do less". This is the prime concept behind the book I just finished - Essentialism. Do less of non-essential items so you can focus on the essential.

For example - if you are a student in Robotics. People will tell you study masters, do online courses, participate in robotics competition, work in lab, leetcode, mock interviews, bootcamps, etc.

All well intentional advice but if you try to do everything you will mostly end up doing a little bit of everything with little progress. A better advice is pick one of these - lab work or competition and give it your everything. This way you can show qualitative progress you have made and stand out in your interviews.

❤️ Things I am enjoying right now

📖 Book - Essentialism by Greg McKeown

📲 App - StoryGraph - it lets you track books you are reading and have finished. I like the app for its simplicity - clean UI, simple options (read, currently reading, to read, etc).

💳 Credit Card - Bilt - I like this card because it lets me earn points on my biggest spend - rent and there is no fee. And then use those points to book hotels or flights so my trip becomes cheaper. Here is a referral link.
