💰 Make $$$ Making Music!

Hey
Wanna get paid to sing or make music every day? Well, buckle up! We're about to make it happen ;) There's a full list of paying opportunities below!! 👇
ABOUT: So, I made this list for you (for FREE) because I know how it feels to be stuck doing jobs you hate... It's the worst. Ten years ago I graduated college with a music degree but, NO IDEA what to do with it... So I got a job at Starbucks & was stuck in the drive through making lattes. It paid the bills, but I was deeply unhappy because I knew I wanted to make music everyday & spending time doing what I loved... but HOW could I make a living from it?
AND NOW... Ten years later, all of my income is from music 🙌 From DJing weddings, to singing in cover bands, headlining venues, teaching vocal workshops, voice acting, coaching other artists, selling vocals to producers, mixing songs, producing bands, and many more opportunities... It has been an incredible journey so far. And I'd love to share what I've learned with you!
It's all about figuring out how to get started ;)
You've probably taken lessons, performed at karaoke & open mics, and maybe even booked a "gig" for a friend or family member's party or event... but how do you take the next step? How do you become a full time artist?
NOTE: Need help? Prep an audition, sing better, learn to record yourself, set up a website, socials, EPK, artist bio, etc - book a 1:1 coaching call here 👈
Here's all the info you need! Click the names to open the sites:
Talent Agencies & Booking Sites: (pays $$ per gig)
- Backstage.com: Search for casting calls, auditions & more! A good resource for finding paid opportunities. Like singing on a cruise ship, or being in a musical, or touring as a backing vocalist, for example!
- Vocalizr: Specifically for vocalists & producers, this site helps you find paid singing opportunities in the music industry.
- Thumbtack: This is where I listed my vocal coaching & wedding DJ services when I was first starting out! You can list any service here :)
Songwriting Opportunities: (pays $100 - $500 & up)
- Songwriting Competitions: check out this list compiled by ASCAP of popular and well paying songwriting competitions all over the world!
- SoundBetter: A marketplace specifically for music professionals. You can offer services like singing, songwriting, beats or vocal production!
- SongFinch.com: get paid $100 / song by people who want to give a song to a loved one. You will be paid & work with a client to capture an experience, memory or special moment in their lives to turn into song!
Freelance & Gig Platforms: (pays $5 - $500 & up)
- Fiverr: Create a profile offering your vocal services, such as recording demos, jingles, or custom songs for people. Clients who are looking for these services can hire you directly for any amount you choose!
- AirGigs: A platform where musicians & vocalists can offer their services for recording vocals, providing BGVs, harmonies, or other tasks.
- Voclio.com: for singers & topline vocalists / songwriters who sing, this is a great opportunity to sell your vocals and your songs online!
Music & Beats Websites: (sell songs for $$ & get tips)
- Bandcamp: Primarily a platform for selling music, you can also use it to build your fanbase and sell recordings or live performance tickets. I've linked mine, so you can check it out & get some ideas!
- Stage32: A networking site for creatives in the film and theater industries. Connect with industry professionals looking for singers / songwriters.
- BeatStars: already making beats or instrumentals? You can list them for sale at any price of your choosing to make some quick cash!
Social Media and Networking: (pays monthly $$ / get sponsors)
- YouTube: Build a channel showcasing your music & singing talents. You can monetize through ad revenue, sponsorships, and fan donations via platforms like Patreon. I use YouTube & Patreon for my music monthly!
- Patreon: this is truly the best way to grow a community of supporters & get consistent income on your music! Check mine out for inspo ;)
- TikTok: Use TikTok to showcase your singing skills & connect with a wider audience. Tons of musicians have found opportunities for paid work through viral content and collaborations. Like my friend, Ricky Jab!
- Twitch: There are tons of indie artists who live-stream playing games or performing their music to build a following! I personally know three artists who are just streaming on Twitch full time & doing it successfully!
Local Opportunities: (networking & more!)
- Local Music Venues: Check out local bars, clubs & theaters for performance opportunities. Many venues post gig listings or upcoming auditions on their websites or social media pages. Lots of venues have open mics, songwriting competitions, battle of the bands, etc!
- Community Boards: Keep an eye on bulletin boards in music stores, cafes, and community centers for local gigs and singing opportunities. FaceBook Groups, Craigslist, and LinkedIn also have music opportunities!
NOTE: Need help? Prep an audition, sing better, learn to record yourself, set up a website, socials, EPK, artist bio, etc - book a 1:1 coaching call here 👈
I hope this helps you! My recommendation is to just pick one or two of these to focus on for a few months & see how it goes. Pick something that seems fun, easy or like something you would do anyway :)
For example - I'm mixing a 5 song EP, posting YouTube videos, updating my Patreon, teaching voice lessons, booking a DJ gig & working on an upcoming album. All of these things combined will be my income for the next few months.
So get out there, get creative, and have some fun!! 🙌
As always, thanks for being a part of the Studio community.
Hope to see you again soon ^_^
Cheers,
