For years, I fell into a trap—maybe you’ve been there too.
Scrolling through social media, see someone crushing a goal you're barely moving toward, and think:
“Why am I not there yet?”
“What’s wrong with me?”
Here’s the thing no one tells us:
There will always be someone further ahead.
Someone with more followers, more wins, and somehow… more hours in their day.
It seems unfair.
But it’s also completely irrelevant.
I learned this the hard way.
I used to obsess over what others were doing. I’d tell myself,
“If they’re there, I must be falling behind.”
But you know what happens when you compete with everyone else?
You burn out.
Fast.
Then one day, it hit me.
I wasn’t running my own race—I was running theirs.
So I made a shift.
I stopped comparing my mile 3 to someone else’s mile 30 and asked myself one simple question:
“Am I better today than I was yesterday?”
Sometimes the answer was a confident yes.
Other times, it was a half-smile and, “Well… I got up today, so that’s progress.”
But little by little, things started to change.
Not because I was chasing them, but because I was building me.
Here’s the truth:
Your only competition is the version of you from yesterday.
The goal isn’t to be the best.
It’s to be better than you were before.
So let’s stop looking sideways and start locking into our own next steps.
What’s one thing you can do today to outpace yesterday’s version of you?
Let me know—I’d love to hear it.
Here’s to progress,
