For years, I lived my life like this:
I felt tired, so I’d sleep in.
I felt distracted, so I’d scroll.
I felt stressed, so I’d eat junk food.
I felt burnt out, so I’d go grab a drank.
None of these coping strategies worked.
In fact,
They made things worse.
Much worse.
They led me to feel the exact feelings I was trying to avoid.
I realized that in order to change,
I needed to change what I DID in the face of challenge.
Instead of caving in…
I started taking control of my action.
Instead of letting how I felt determine what I did.
I let ACTION come first.
What did this look like?
Foggy → Run
Tired → Hydrate
Angry → Meditate
Uninspired → Read
Stressed → Breathe
Annoyed → Gratitude
Lonely → Call a friend
Depressed → Workout
Doubtful → Take action
Rejected → Work harder
Burnt out → Call a friend
Distracted → Airplane mode
And it changed EVERYTHING.
It put me back in the driver seat of my life.
And I think…
It could do the same for you.
Too many people act based on the way they feel,
Instead of the goals they have.
How you FEEL doesn’t matter.
What you DO does.
In order to move forward,
Act based on your goals.
When you do,
You’ll not only be in control of your results…
You’ll increase your surface area of success.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
