Here we go into summer!
Jun 05, 2024 7:31 pm
Exciting things are finally starting to happen in Joyce's book world, along with the horses! As you can see from the picture, Marker and Mocha are now on summer pasture. It's going well for the most part, except when I'm gone for a few days and Marker gets bored with pasture life. Then he decides to herd Mocha, and Mocha isn't super-thrilled about that notion. But it keeps the old lady active, and she's moving better than she has been. Life with a young, smart, and energetic horse....
I finished the third book of The Cost of Power, which means that I am a.) in the editing process, and will be all summer, plus b.) I now have release dates set, and c.) I can start releasing promotional snippets!
RELEASE DATES:
The Cost of Power: Book One, Return--AUGUST 20, 2024
The Cost of Power: Book Two, Crucible--SEPTEMBER 10, 2024
The Cost of Power: Book Three, Redemption--SEPTEMBER 24, 2024
The Cost of Power: Omnibus Edition--NOVEMBER 12, 2024
The individual book releases will also happen in paperback; however the expense probably means that the omnibus edition will be in ebook only. As we get closer to these release dates I'm hoping to find some people interested in eARCs to write reviews. Respond to this email if you want to be on the list!
PROMOTIONAL SNIPPET RELEASE:
Meanwhile, I'm kicking off the promotional snippet releases. This month, check out several snippets from the perspective of Philip Martiniere! It's available through BookFunnel so you can look at it in epub, mobi, or PDF formats. Here's an excerpt from the preface so that you know what to expect:
One of the biggest challenges of drafting The Cost of Power was writing Philip Martiniere’s character arc. In the other Martiniere Multiverse/Martiniere Legacy books, Philip is a complete and total villain. I started playing with the notion that perhaps he wasn’t entirely bad; just led astray by his involvement with the Electric Born cult and a tendency toward quick, explosive temper, a characteristic shared with his biological son Gabriel and daughter Justine.
This change in Philip drives a lot of the elements in The Cost of Power.

Right now this is a newsletter exclusive. Depending on how many of you download it, I may keep it exclusive until August.
Next month I'll be putting up an interview with the Martinieres. Which should be...interesting.
Otherwise, I'm rearranging my office and getting ready to move on from writing about the Martinieres. I'm finally going to tackle the second series in the Goddess's Honor world, Goddess's Vision, and in this one I'm tearing down the Darani Empire. Well, not me, but the Empress Witmara. We'll see what the Gods think about that one. Book One is solid, with the romance between Heinmyets and Betsona. Witmara is being elusive so we may see the entire series through Heinmyets and Betsona's eyes as they struggle to keep up with Witmara.
And don't forget to toss a coin to your writer if you're really into my work! You can contribute by clicking the button below!
That's it for this month. Stay cool, and see you next month! Feel free to write in response to this newsletter--I enjoy hearing from you.
