On New Year’s Day, people often think about changes or resolutions. For me, it’s a time to count my blessings. One of my writer’s groups suggests setting goals for the upcoming year. These goals always include the books we plan to write. Then, in the following December, we review what we accomplished at one of our meetings. The second meeting of the month is PARTY TIME!

For 2022, my blessings include family, especially the four-legged contingent. Granted, Lucky Charm seems to think he’s an equine bulldozer especially if he’s been locked in the barn on snow days. I’ll be repairing and rebuilding the fences he’s trashed. Yes, I should be angry or frustrated with him, but I’ve had him since he was four months old. He’ll be 17 this year and hopefully, we’ll have many more years together. I had his foster mom until she was about 40.

Another blessing is Paladin, my rescue Australian Cattle Dog. I’m hoping he grows into his brain this year since he turned three at Christmas. He’s still very reactive, especially where men are concerned. Doesn’t like them and is pretty sure they are chew toys if they raise their voices near him. They do when he’s around and it becomes a case of “chicken and egg.” Which came first? The guys raising their voices- - or Pal chasing them and nipping their heels?

As for goals, this year I have books galore to write, at least four in my Josie series, two for Baker City and two for Liberty Valley. I also do Young Adult and I have approximately six – to eight more books in those two series. Thankfully, Amber, my Virtual Assistant has promised to be available for all the social media stuff so I can meet those book deadlines. It’s going to be a reading good time for you and a writing good time for me in 2022!

Take time to count your blessings and consider your goals for 2022. Let’s make it special for all of us!
