Hi there & HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!!
JON COLE here hoping this message finds you well and thriving!
Got a few things to share today that I hope will bring you at least a small spike in serotonin…one announcement, a beautiful, short lyric to ponder, and the my favorite new-song find of the week (it’s gorgeous and the live performance on video hits just right). So without further ado…

WHAT I'M WORKING ON...
MY NEW SONG IS OUT THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 10th!
In the wake of one of my lowest moment my friend, John Carter Cash, was very kind and invited me to spend a weekend at the Cash Cabin Studio.
In the small hours, before falling asleep on the couch in the control room, alone in these dim-lit rooms where more iconic moments have been authored than I could hope to know, I wrote this song from beginning to end.
What you'll hear is the heartfelt, albeit simple recording I made the next morning in Johnny Cash's vocal booth before returning home to ATL.

LYRIC TO PONDER...
… Got a kick for a dog, begging for love
I gotta have myself a ring so that I can have my cross
I know a cat named Easter, he says "will you ever learn"
You're just an empty cage, girl, if you kill the bird
-Tori Amos, Crucify

SONG OF THE WEEK...
VULTURE CHOIR
By The BROS LANDRETH
Very few songs by new artists that I could recommend as highly as Vulture Choir. The live version is a gem of a YouTube find and if you like it I'll be proud to have been the one who turned you on to it.
This beautiful song was recommended to me by Troy Rayford Barnes - a damn fine songwriter (and chef) in his own right - and it passed the goose-bumps test for me.
Subtle echoes of Bruce Hornsby and the Range tip-toe and trickle out from the melodic and harmonic choices in the vocal arrangement of this refreshing example of classic and careful songwriting.
