My awkward restaurant failure

Hey !
Here's a true (and embarrassing) story of one of my first days selling a balloon twisting service to restaurant managers:
I was driving down a busy street of an Atlanta suburb pulling off to each family style restaurant to talk to them about balloon twisting in their establishment. I didn't know all of the information I know now, so I was talking to every restaurant at any time of the day.
On this day, I was with my supervisor (both working for a competing balloon company before my company was born). I was having trouble getting the restaurant managers to let me perform a free balloon twisting service for their guests, so I asked my supervisor to come along to help me seal some deals and give me feedback. We walked into a corporately owned, large, stand-alone building that attracted families. I asked the host to speak to the manager. When the manager walked up, I introduced myself and my supervisor:
"Hey there! I'm Joey, this is Brett. We were wondering..."
I froze. Not for any particular reason, I just got nervous and forgot the second line of my sales pitch. As I felt the temperature of my face rise, I searched desperately for the words I was trying to say. Why were we there? What was I trying to ask this manager? I stared at the manager in the eyes with my mouth open, hoping that something would come out of my mouth - anything. The manager gazed back at me perplexed; as if I was an alien speaking a foreign cosmic language. His eyes showed his growing discomfort with every second that passed. After a long enough time to create an extremely uncomfortable situation between us three, I turned towards my supervisor - still dumbfounded and mute - crying out with a look of desperation.
The three of us stood in a triangle, trading glances at one another waiting for another to speak to provide some sort of context for why I had called a meeting at the front of the restaurant. The host watched, feeling the awkwardness from a distance and cringing.
Brett, not expecting to take the reins, stumbled over his words to try to dig ourselves out of the hole of shame I had dug us into. Brett, also did not do a great job explaining why we were all standing there or what he and I were even doing in the restaurant.
Needless to say, we did not get approval for balloon twisting in that restaurant.
Brett consoled me as we awkwardly sat back in my car. "It's ok, it happens to everyone. When I talked to my first restaurant manager, I was so nervous I threw up on his shoes."
I looked at him ashamed for my performance and also in disbelief of his own account. "You did not..." I replied.
"You're right, I'm just trying to make you feel better. That was SO painfully bad."
