Ramblings from the Desk of J. Morgyn White
Happy Summer! I have so much exciting news to share: Harlan and Wald’s story Too Cursed To Kiss will be published October, 1st 2025— it’s a standalone of a three book series called Nightshade Hearts.
Book Two, Demons For Breakfast, will be Sorrel and Ranth’s story (but that’s a secret for now, so keep it on the low-down).
Too Cursed To Kiss is about to head off to the printer (did I just say that?) Advanced Reading Copies are being sent off in August and I’m so darned excited. The world hasn’t seen the cover yet (tomorrow is the official launch) but I wanted to show you first!
I also have a Linktr.ee to keep you on top of everything :
I promised you some art previews so here you go! Don't share these because they haven't been officially shown yet :) It's been a blast working with artists around the world on this project.

Don’t worry, Valravyn is still scheduled for 2026 and I’ll be working hard on it in the fall. We finally moved last week and my office, while still a shambles of boxes, is shaping up to be a refuge to write and edit!
What I'm Reading
Right now I’m reading a historical - That Summer by Lauren Willig - and it was not what I expected, but enthralling in the way she manages to blend a little mystery and romance with her historical (a thing I love). It’s split between 1840s and 2009 and while generally I don’t love that, she’s making it work.
What I'm Watching
Splitting my time between The Buccaneers (OMG) on Apple TV and The Gilded Age (starting to pick up) on HBO Max as episodes land. I’m sorry Black Dagger Brotherhood on Passionflix is over but now we can anticipate the second season. I finished Careme on Apple TV, and caught up on Sullivan’s Crossing on Netflix as season 3 drops in August. But my biggest anticipation is Wednesday season 2 which lands August 6. It’s been a great summer for series. Did you wall watch Motorheads on Prime? (Very young adult coming of age plot - but loved it).
Teaser
I’ll leave you with a tiny snippet of something I’m playing with.
Until the leaves fall ~ Best Wishes,
Joanne

Cold crept up my fingers like ghosts from the grave. I waggled them to fight back the feeling, but no matter how much my fingers appeared to be alive, he had taken me with him. Dead and gone, they say. He wasn’t gone, not truly. Behind he left a mountain of paper, and the memory of his last breath. Had I killed him?
