Happy Autumn!
You may have noticed I’m a published author now! Too Cursed to Kiss is officially published and available in Kindle Unlimited, ebook, and paperback worldwide. The wrap cover of the paperback turned out gorgeous. The book has been a tremendous success and I’m really pleased with where I’ve gotten to. It’s incredibly hard for a debut author to get visibility and I feel like I’m at least not invisible now. Total win.
I had extremely happy news in September that my novel It Might Disturb The House was selected as a Top 100 pick for the Cheshire Novel Prize, AND another novel of mine was chosen for their long list of which is very prestigious. But the October 1st news that the book had also made their shortlist slayed me. I am now on tenterhooks until November. Regardless, you’ll be able to read the excerpt from the book once the final results are announced. Don’t worry there’s lots of champagne chilling.
For me, my Linktr.ee should keep you on top of everything
Now I’m busily at work on planning for Demons For Breakfast’s release (the 2nd Nightshade Hearts release) in February. The title won’t be announced until later this month so keep it quiet for now :)
I’ve assigned most of the art for the book and I have to say it’s stunning. I’m still waiting on the cover so I’ll show you that next time.
Demons for Breakfast is the story of Sorrel, a nature witch demon hunter in SF who ends up bound to a cursed (and very vexing) handsome wizard. The twist is, if he dies she dies. It doesn’t help that they are being hunted by a pack of demon dogs. Forced proximity plays a major role in sparking their romance but there are other forces at play. Just wait until you see the PR Boxes I’m planning.
I’ll leave you a teaser piece of art but promise you won’t share! This one is by Zai Elia.
2026 looks to be a wilder ride than 2025 now that I know how all of this works I can start making plans for the manuscripts yelling at me to get into readers hands. There’s still lots to learn but I am no longer a neophyte.
What I’m Reading.
In the spirit of the season I’m currently reading Blackwicket which reminds me of The Book Eaters, except the main character is a curse eater. Beautiful lyrical writing. Earlier this summer I read Never the Roses which is still lingering with me. It has a romance between two older magicians. Really a fabulous tale. Speaking of fabulous, My good friend Caty Rogan’s debut romantasy Kissed by The Gods made a huge smash in September - definitely check it out if you haven’t already. I had the pleasure of reading early drafts of it, and the published version is incredible! But watch out for the cliffhanger ending.
My next hope-to-be-great read is Marie Lu’s Red City. A copy is on its way to me. Fingers crossed.
What I'm Watching
After binging House of Guinness, I’m now watching the new season of Slow Horses as it drops and in between catching up on Wednesday (the 2nd half of the season is way way better than the first, but it was not the season I’d hoped for). I’m anxiously awaiting the drop of Culpa Nuestra on the 16th and I may watch the first two again to refresh my memory. Tonight I hope to watch the Woman in Cabin 10. I enjoyed the book and am curious as to how it translates to film.
As promised something special - my short story The Celestial Elixir not available anywhere else is available to read for free on my website.
