Release Day for Claiming Her Cougar!
Aug 29, 2025 12:01 pm
Hey friends! Phew! Life has been crazy busy lately. All good stuff, just a lot of it.
Today is the day! Book 2 in the Shifting Pines series, Claiming Her Cougar is out in the world. One of the early scenes (NOT THE PROLOGUE!!!!) happened to me in real life. Kinda. I'll tell you about it in a future newsletter. Anyway, back to Liam and Mallory. Yes, you know them already if you read the hockey books but this is their story from before hockey. You don't have to have read any of the hockey books to read this but if you have you'll catch glimpses of other certain folks and then maybe want to go reread the hockey books. LOL. I love this cover. It's designed by Tracie of Dark Water Covers. I haven't seen this model before so was excited when I saw his photo on a stock photo site.
Here's their blurb:
When fate (and a mouse) reunite a charming cougar shifter with his sexy Las Vegas hook up can they make what was a one time thing into something much more permanent?
Mallory:
No names, no details, no future. It was just a hook up one night in a Vegas nightclub. Who could blame me? The guy at the bar was just what I needed to scratch the itch a long romantic dry spell left me with. It did the trick and what happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas…
Until a mouse went nowhere a rodent should go and reunited us six months later. Any thoughts of picking up where we left off vanished when I discover he’s a VP in the company I work for. I’ve worked too hard on my career to tarnish my reputation and risk my family’s respect with a fling that will have people thinking I’m sleeping my way through the executive team. The past is going to have to remain just that because there can be no future.
Liam:
Once I felt the curvy auburn-haired beauty against me and knew how sweet her kisses were I knew I wanted more. But she rushed away like a sexy Cinderella leaving me alone in the dark corner of a noisy nightclub with only her blue lace panties to remember her by.
I couldn’t believe my luck to have finally found her here in my hometown. However, my luck runs out when she refuses to date me because of my position in our company. Little does she know I have plans that will remove that barrier and change both of our futures.
Can I convince her to trust fate—and me—and give us a chance?
Claiming Her Cougar is a sexy, open-door, workplace romcom with a charming cougar shifter and the determined woman with mama drama trying not to love him.
If you want to read more about Shifting Pines, the unofficial first book in the Shifting Pines series is Bigfoot Finds A Bride, part of the Monster Brides series and an Amazon exclusive for now. Bigfoot Finds A Bride is a second chance romance with sexy Bigfoot shifter cat dad Finn and runaway bride Shelby looking for a place to be herself. This cover was hand drawn by the incredibly talented artist Kit Fox. She took reference pictures of my local wildlife refuge that I supplied her and created the perfect scene. The skyline represents Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The official first Shifting Pines book, Landing Her Eagle released earlier this summer. I love this cover, I've been wanting to this guy on a cover forever and I decided he'd be my Logan. It's another design by Tracie of Dark Water Covers. This story features Daphne and Logan who you may also recognize from the hockey stories. Their best friends to lovers romance takes place two years before Sexy Pucking Polar Bear so it's a blast from the past. Daphne is the character that surprises me the most as I write my books. She knows everyone! I think someone is completely new and nope, Daphne knew them in college or met them once in line at the grocery store and somehoe got their life story out of them because that's how she rolls. She cracks me up. I think she's the unofficial cruise director of the Shifting Pines Universe. LOL.
Here are some more awesome stories available now or coming soon from some of my author friends in a few of my favorite genres – contemporary, monster romance, cozy mystery, and sports. Just click on the covers to learn more!

Ice Cold, Red Hot by Delancey Stewart
On the ice, he’s unstoppable. Off it, she’s the only thing that can break him.
I play to win. On the ice. In life.
As captain of Coldwater’s hockey team, my life is simple.
I skate. I hit. I score. I keep my head down and my fists ready.
Hockey is my ticket out. My family’s name demands perfection, and the NHL is my future.
Distractions? I don’t do those.
Until her.
Celeste Moreno. The girl who wrecked me with one perfect week last summer—and then vanished.
Now she’s back.
Living down the hall. Teaching the class I’m stuck in.
She’s forbidden—my TA, the one woman I can’t touch without destroying everything I’ve worked for - and ruining her in the process.
So I try to ignore her.
Focus on hockey. On the draft. On the championship we’re chasing.
But every time I see her, I lose my edge. And when another guy moves in on her? I lose my damn mind. One punch. One mistake. And now my whole career is on the line.
She was supposed to be a summer distraction.
But she’s the only thing I want more than the game.
Don't they all look so good?? I need to finish writing the first draft of Violet's story before it goes to the editor early next week. Getting to the smexy part. Then I need to break some hearts. Including mine. Sigh. Once that's done maybe I'll reward myself with some reading. I listen to a ton of audiobooks and that's how I usually ingest my stories, sitting and reading and not doing anything else is a treat.
Something I'm working on is posting more to social media to let everyone know what is happening. I get so immersed in my Shifting Pines universe I ignore real one. I'm also working on sending my newsletter more consistently. I want to share more info about what I'm working on and also some behind the scenes things that inspire my stories. Do you follow me on social media? If not, you should!

I didn't go to Staples yet so no new notebooks. Afraid to go now since school starts Tuesday and I anticipate it being crazy busy. But I should go to the library to renew my library card and maybe try to the Gilmore Girl cups from Aldi. Most likely I'll just stay home and keep writing. You're welcome. LOL.
Have a great weekend and maybe claim yourself a cougar...
