Hi ,
Today in the states, we turn the clocks back and revel in the illusion of more time added to our day. Wouldn't that be great if it were actually possible to add more time? Or would we just end up filling it with agenda items? I wonder...
As I was standing in line to early vote this week, I ran into a fellow elementary school mother. She is an active volunteer at the school that our kids attend and I admire her leadership. Over the past few years, while I've been navigating Ledderhose's disease, I've noticed her taking up running in the park. If I'm being honest, I definitely feel pangs of envy when I see someone taking up running. I don't even like running that much. I just like the idea of being able to...
We spoke briefly and like any good health and wellness pro, I inquired as to how the running has been going. She replied that she had been really taken over with the planning of a large event at our school and had been taking a break from running for now.
In my youth, I ran the Chicago Marathon, as well as a slew of other shorter races. I completely understand the time constraint that running and training puts on one's schedule. But I couldn't help but wonder how "time trading" our obligations for the movement that brought us joy might be standing in the way of our health.
I don't believe that everyone needs to run by any means. However, I have observed this woman in pure joy, smiling and laughing as she paced herself with her running partner during their morning treks. I wondered if her joy container was less than full, or if the accomplishment of the event she was planning was enough?
This encounter got me thinking about how we can weave joyful movement into our lives, even when time feels scarce. It's not always about grand marathons or intense workouts. Sometimes, it's about finding the rhythm that works for you – a sustainable way to build strength, find joy, and prioritize your well-being, even amidst a busy schedule.
That's why I created Find Your Stride. This 4-week program isn't about squeezing in another obligation. It's about discovering the joy of walking, building strength at your own pace, and creating a fitness habit that truly fills you up!

FAQ's:
1. What is RPE, and why is it important for this program?
RPE stands for Rate of Perceived Exertion. It's a scale that helps you measure how hard your body is working during exercise, based on how you feel. Instead of relying solely on distance or speed, RPE helps you tune in to your body's signals and adjust your effort accordingly. This is essential for building a sustainable walking routine that challenges you without overdoing it.
2. How often will I be walking in this program?
"Find Your Stride" is designed to help you build a sustainable fitness habit, not overwhelm you. You'll aim for 3-5 walks per week, with a focus on gradually increasing your intensity and duration. Rest and recovery are important parts of the process, so you'll have built-in rest days to allow your body to adapt and grow stronger.
3. I'm already pretty fit. Will this program be challenging enough for me?
Absolutely! Even if you're a seasoned walker, "Find Your Stride" will help you refine your technique, optimize your effort, and push your boundaries safely. The program includes progressive challenges that will help you increase your speed, endurance, and overall fitness level.
4. I'm new to walking for fitness. Is this program suitable for beginners?
Yes! "Find Your Stride" is designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced walkers. The RPE scale allows you to personalize your workouts and progress at your own pace. Plus, you'll receive expert guidance and support every step of the way.
5. How is RPE different from using a heart rate monitor or fitness tracker?
While heart rate monitors and fitness trackers can provide valuable data, RPE teaches you to become more attuned to your body's internal signals. It's a powerful tool for developing self-awareness and building a sustainable fitness practice that honors your individual needs and limits.
6. What is the cost of the program?
The program costs just $97 for the month as well as ongoing access to all materials. This is an integrated training program, rather than a challenge and you'll have full support as we go through the weeks. I hope you can join!
