A Lot Going On At The Moment 🤹‍♀️

I disappeared for a little bit. I’m sorry for the silence. While I’m about to let you in on why, I also want to

Hey ,

I disappeared for a little bit.

I’m sorry for the silence. While I’m about to let you in on why, I also want to acknowledge that in a world of rapid-fire content and constant announcements, sometimes taking a break to regroup is the healthiest thing we can do.

We'll start with the professional update first: After 10 years, I’ve decided to move on from my loft studio space. The moment I made the decision, I felt a mixture of grief and a massive sense of relief. It’s hard to know when to leave a place that has been so good to you.

Within those walls, I’ve created movement sessions, online workshops, a coaching practice, and two books. Aside from the rumble of the Chicago EL trains, it has been my sanctuary. It’s where I honed my perspective as a wellness expert - working from research and curiosity rather than trends. That process has been as unique as the wood grain on the loft’s ceiling, and I’m finally ready for the next adventure.

While the details are still forming, I can confirm two things:

  1. I will continue health and wellness coaching, with more in-person, event-based offerings next year.
  2. I’ll be diving into Pilates in a brand-new way with a new community. Stay tuned for an official announcement toward the end of February!

Alright - now to the personal update: I’ve gone back and forth a thousand times wondering if I should share this. It’s very personal, and until last week, I was stuck in a "grey zone" regarding any level of certainty. But this year has been so wacky that I felt my experience might be helpful to share.

The short story: I am okay. I’m as healthy as a perimenopausal horse - or something like that. However:

Last year, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The months since have been a stressful rollercoaster of MRIs and "what-ifs." But last week, I received the news that everything has remained stable this year. I don’t have to go back for scans for another full year. 🎉

One of the reasons I disappeared was that I was waiting for those results. Thankfully, they were the best possible outcome. Because the journey was much too long for an email, I wrote a blog post about how I found it and what happens next.

You can read the full story here.

I hope your year is ending on a calm note. I know that in a world of major headlines, chaos, and stress in general, it can be challenging to find the bright spots - the dark is much easier to find. I’ll be back to my regular writing schedule in the new year, hoping to bring a little light to your inbox each week to help. 🕯️

Let me know what you’re celebrating or what is shifting in your world. I’d love to hear from you.

Living Well With You, Not At You,
