In Which I Go Off On a Tangent and Then Talk Books...

Summer is ending. And, not to wax too poetic, but it feels like the summer season of my life is fading too (it's not over, but fading). It's kind of heart-breaking and happy at the same time.

This August my son arrived home from his church mission. It was so so happy and joyful. For five days, we were all together as a family. We had fun. And we were BUSY!

And then my eighteen-year-old daughter headed off to college. She's studying architectural design at Utah State University.

Two weeks later, my son (the one who just got home) went off to college as well. He's headed to BYU-Idaho to study mechanical engineering.

Two college freshman (plus a high school sophomore and an eighth grader still at home, if you're counting).

And it's exactly what I want for them--I want them to fly off into the world and do big things and serve people and learn and be awesome and... everything.

But I miss them. Like, a lot. My husband and my other daughters miss them too. At first it felt like we were just poking around our empty-feeling house, not quite sure what to do with ourselves.

It's been this huge tug-of-war of happy-sad-ecstatic-sad-happy-mopey-happy-proud-sad. Seriously, I'm such a mess. But also bursting with pride... You get the idea.

Anyway, I don't even know what this has to do with bookish news, but my fingers just started typing it and there it is. Anyone else in this weird happy-sad (sappy) time of life?

Anyway--get back on track, brain!--I do have lots of exciting bookish news!

Most notably, Grey Fall and Other Stories is releasing on October 1st.

It's a collection of novellas and stories connected to the world of Grey Stone and Grey Lore. If you're subscribed to my fantasy newsletter, you've probably already gotten the title story, Grey Fall, for free. The full book contains another novella and two longish short stories. It's on pre-order for $.99. After October, the price will go up to $2.99. So buy it already(!) if you like my fantasy stories. It's cheap and it would make my heart happy.

For my women's fic fans out there, From Snow is up for pre-sale and becomes available November 1st--right in time for the holiday season. Which is perfect because it's a winter story.

In mid-November, The Ethereal, the 3rd book for The Determiner series will release. It's about to go up for pre-sale, so keep your eye out for that email. I don't have a full cover reveal for you yet, but here's a hint to tell you where this story takes place.

Along the line of stories that are releasing this fall, I'm also actively looking for ARC readers. An ARC reader is someone who gets a free copy of the story (digitally usually) and then--hopefully (though not required)--leaves a review when the book releases. If you're interested in joining my ARC and Party FB group, please click HERE and I'll be happy to let you in. In addition to the ARCs, we'll be doing lots of fun stuff like giveaways when I hit certain milestones and things like that. It's going to be tons of fun. Unless I hit NO milestones, in which case...depression, and no fun! But, seriously, it will be fun!

And if you're looking for some more reads, you can check these out here (Disclaimer: I've not read them, but thought they looked interesting and that some of you might enjoy them.)
