June

June has gone off with a bang. HUGE THANK YOU to any and all who pledged for my Kickstarter. I'm currently getting map and chapter headings made, and then will put the finishing touches up on the formatting.

In other news, I went to my daughter's church camp as a cabin mom (it wasn't bad!) and then while my daughters were off at a another camp, my husband and I went to Chattanooga for a lovely time away. We had the most amazing little cabin. We hiked and biked and walked the city and ate great food. It was one of the best vacations I've taken!

Though I came back with no voice. Which is where I am right now, sounding like a bass (my daughter says it's 'low-key impressive'--though she didn't make the low-key pun on purpose; she's just a teenager).

I'm ready to tackle the rest of June by announcing that The Undersecretary, the 4th book in The Determiner series is up for presale. It'll be available at the beginning of October, but if you grab it in pre-order, it's only $.99 (grab it!).

Isn't the cover soooo cool?!?

Pre-order it HERE!

A little about it (I'm still tightening up my blurb):

Betrayed by someone they thought was a friend, Henry and Lucy make their way to China in search of the third piece of the clasp. But friends aren't the only ones in the business of deceit and betrayal, and soon Henry finds himself sick and powerless on the streets of New Luoyang.

With no language and Henry growing sicker by the day, Lucy fights desperately to find the next piece without losing Henry--in more ways than one.

Because although Henry is surrounded by enemies on all sides, the most dangerous one might be the dark doubt that is growing in his own heart.

Will Henry fly or fall in the exciting fourth book of The Determiner series?

June Recipe:

Lemon Pie

(If you're part of my women's fic newsletter, you've probably already seen this...)

We got these amazing Meyer lemons from a friend and with them I made this amazing pie!

It's creamy but tart and refreshing. Plus you can use berries to garnish it and it's so yummy and delicious.

1 graham cracker crust (for homemade, use 1 1/2 C graham cracker crumbs--a sleeve, 1/3 C sugar, and 5 T melted butter--bake for about 8 minutes at 350)

For the filling:

2/3 C lemon juice (3-5 lemons)

2 (14 oz) cans sweetened condensed milk

3 egg yolks

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Whisk lemon juice, sweetened condensed milk, and egg yolks until smooth.

Pour this into pie crust.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the pie is mostly set (center may jiggle slightly).

Allow to cool. You can garnish with whipped cream or blueberries or raspberries. Enjoy!
