A Sweet for My Sweets

Since I can't bring any of you Christmas cookies, I thought I could at least give you a recipe.
This recipe is one of our holiday go-tos and it's dumb easy (I'll have another holiday recipe for your next week, which is a little harder, but worth it). I call them Seven Layer Cookies. My husband grew up calling them Magic Cookie Bars. I've also heard them called Dolly Bars.
Seven Layer Cookies
1 package graham crackers
1 stick butter (1/2 C)
1 C walnuts or pecans
1 C sweetened coconut
1 C chocolate chips
1 C other chips (can be dark chocolate, white chocolate, or butterscotch)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Crush the graham crackers and add the crumbs to a 9x13 inch pan. Add butter. Mix, press.
Add nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, and other chips. Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk. Let it sit for 10 minutes (note: this is important--at least to me. This sitting time allows the condensed milk to sink down into your yummy stuff. If you throw them into the oven too quickly, it sometimes forms a sort of top layer, that could peel off and you don't want that. You want the condensed milk sunk in with everything else so it holds them together.)
Bake for 15-20 minutes (edges will be just a bit golden). Remove, cool, and cut.
Done. Your friends and family will love them. At least if you bother to share (I won't tell if you don't.)
As far as bookish things...
Below I'm including ALL of my books (sweet romance, memoir/essay, fantasy) just in case any of them look great for the person on your Christmas list. The Determiner is my newest release and is perfect for the tween/teen in your life. The ebook is just $.99 and the paperback is also cheaper than it will ever be again.
Here are my sweet romance/women's fiction books for you. Also for the sweet in your life.
A little sweet mystery.
A grieving firefighter. A woman recovering from her past.
A paramedic who finds an injured dog on scene. Then falls for the veterinary assistant.
My true stories.
A collection of essays, written with my husband. It's called Pulse: A Paramedic's Walk Along the Lines of Life and Death.
My friend, Laura's story, about her drug use, addiction, and eventual recovery. The book is called Four Seconds.
A tiny collection of essays about my mother--her cancer and the bright spots we sometimes found in that difficult time. Hugging Death: Essays on Motherhood and Saying Goodbye.
And my fantasy novels.
A collection of stories set in the world of Grey Stone.
A world where shifters rule with magic and menace, wolves command, dogs sing, and humans serve.
A new world, with creatures who want it to go back to the old one.
This week, I have several month-long promos with holiday books! So head over and have a look. And as usual, I'll include some other authors' books, along with my disclaimer that I haven't read them. But they're all indie and they all looked interesting in various ways.
Sweet Winter Reads. Most of these have a winter or holiday theme. Some are discounted. Some regular price. Have a look around.
