Kickstarter, April Bookish Happenings, and a Cookie Recipe (that is kind of sort of healthy)

Y'all ready for more fun?

Of course you are.

To keep things exciting, we had several tornados touch down in or near Evansville yesterday. We are fine (and NO fatalities or even injuries from the tornados so hurray!), but our house still doesn't have power, so I'm currently working from the library. Yesterday, even the library didn't have power, so I wrote for a bit, read for a bit, and called it a day. It was kind of a lovely day to be honest.

But today I'm back to work!!! And excited about that.

My biggest announcement this month is that I've got my Kickstarter up for prelaunch. It's for a special edition of my book, Click. I'm excited and scared.

If you want to follow the campaign (or if you'd like to support me even if you're not quite sure about the campaign, just click HERE (or the image above) and then click, "Notify Me on Launch." It costs nothing and will really only "notify you on launch," not bug you in other ways.

By clicking you also HELP me out as the more engagement it gets, the more visible the campaign becomes. (begging puppy eyes). So whether or not you want to support the actual campaign with moola (and there are LOADS of ways to support), it will help me. So thank you!!!

This book is an upper middle grade (very similar to lower YA) mystery. I love it so much! I've also commissioned some beautiful art for it.

One of the fun things about Kickstarter is that the better a project does, the more bells and whistles you get. So with this book, I've already got a pretty cool hardcover planned with a dust jacket and this beautiful laminate cover underneath. However, if the project makes enough money, then I'm going to be able to add gold foiling to the dust jacket and laminate. And then maybe character art. And then maybe chapter illustrations. They sky's the limit!

April Promos and Sales:

To bid winter adieu, I've put From Snow up for $.99 from April 3rd-9th. If you haven't bought it, grab it! (pretty please)

Recipe:

Last year I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's, which is a thyroid autoimmune disorder. Since I'm kind of a hippie (and since my symptoms are not at all severe), I'm expending some effort researching natural solutions (in addition to taking medicine). The truth is that there aren't loads of natural solutions (with scientific backing anyway). But one of the things I have been playing with is reducing gluten. I know, I know, it's soooo cliche. HOWEVER! I have kind of enjoyed it and found a few health benefits (unrelated to thyroid)--one of which is that I feel like I eat more nutritious food because gluten was really filling. Without it, I'm seeking better things to eat. That said (boy, I'm all over the place with this rambling story), sometimes I get a hankering for something sweet. And I've found this amazing (and still fairly nutritious cookie) that the whole family has enjoyed. Now you can enjoy it too! Love you guys!

Gluten-free Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

1 C creamy peanut butter

2/3 C packed brown sugar (I used 1/2 C the second time I made these and it was still delicious, and I felt really virtuous)

2 eggs

3/4 C quick rolled oats

1/2 tsp baking soda

2/3 C chocolate chips

Combine peanut butter, sugar, eggs. Stir (or beat with mixers) until it's all incorporated.

Add oats, baking soda, and chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes (I definitely land on the 8 minute side of this--I like them chewy).
