Just popping in to say that I've put From Snow up on preorder. If you preorder it, it will show up in your inboxes November 1st (yes, it does feel like a long time--I've never done a long-term pre-order like this before, so we'll see how it goes; I'm sure I'll be famous in no time...)

Why preorder? Well, preordering means you'll get it the minute it's available--seriously, it usually drops into your Kindle at midnight. It helps me out too, because all those preorders show up on the first day it goes live. Which gives me a nice little boost on Amazon.

Here's a little about the book. (And following that is my best homemade hot cocoa recipe.)

Is it possible to find love in a place that has only hurt you?

When Gretchen Stephens inherits an old farmhouse from the grandmother she barely knew, she has one practical option: sell it. After all, there's no sentiment beyond a few fuzzy memories and no money without a sale.

Her resolve only solidifies when the hot handyman, Jackson, shows up to help haul off the old refrigerator. Because even if she could make the old farmhouse into the fancy event venue of her dreams—and she won’t say the idea hasn’t crossed her mind a time or two—the last thing she needs is some country boy to trap her in her past, and the last thing she wants is to leave the city she loves to go back to the hills of Kentucky.

However, when disaster strikes one snowy night and she and Jackson have to work together to help a boy survive, Gretchen realizes she might have misjudged Jackson. And maybe the whole town.

But is it too late to let the very place that hurt her finally start to heal her?

And here's that recipe...

Homemade Hot Chocolate

(Because it's still chilly here, especially at night. And because this is soooo much yummier than anything from a store. And because my mom used to make it for us after we were done playing in the snow. And because at a certain point in the book, the characters get stuck in the house during a snowstorm with only some hot chocolate and crackers--oh, and a very injured teen.)

1 C milk

1 Tbsp cocoa powder

1-2 Tbsp granulated sugar (1 makes it darker; 2 is sweeter and more like a milk chocolate recipe)

Combine cocoa and sugar in a small saucepan. Turn on the heat. Add milk, whisking as you add it. Stir until steaming or the temperature you like for your hot cocoa.

If you're interested in my serial stories on Kindle Vella, I've got a new one up (a new episode drops every week). It's a Hansel and Gretel retelling that I'm super excited about!

Every Thirteen Years: A Hansel and Gretel Retelling

image

Every thirteen years a child disappears in the woods. And this is the year.

Which means there's a strict rule against any children or teens going into the woods. Which means the parties start almost immediately. Which means that when Hans sneaks out to attend the final party before the restriction lifts, his little sister follows him.

Which means things are going to get bad.
