First off, a huge virtual hug to anyone suffering from the hurricane. Wow. Just wow. I was actually in St. Pete the week before, and it is so unreal to think that we left Monday and by Thursday Helene was wreaking havoc across the Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and beyond. So I hope that you all are well with food, water, and transportation.

Secondly, happy September Day to everyone else!

What, you may be asking, is September Day? Well, when my roommates and I were in college, we felt that September did not have a sufficient holiday (sorry, Labor Day), so we created an extra one on September 30th. And celebrated it all those years. Every once in a while, even now, I'll see that one of those old roomies posted something on our FB page to celebrate September Day (maybe that should be me this year since I'm thinking about it...)

So Happy September Day to you all! To celebrate the end of September and the beginning of October, I've got--you guessed it--more promotions. In fact, I'm probably even more promotion happy than I was last month. Grey Stone is still free for a couple more days. Grey Lore and Grey Fall are $.99. And starting tomorrow (for about 5 days) The Determiner and The Z'astra are free; The Ethereal and The Undersecretary are $.99. So you could basically get all my fantasy novels right now for $3.96.

That said, I know this group isn't all about the fantasy novels. (If you're in both my email groups, you'll be hearing more about fantasy tomorrow.)

NEWS

My upper middle grade mystery, Click, is officially on sale (ebook won't go live until tomorrow, Oct. 1st)! It is such a fantastic book for older tweens and all teens. If you're looking for a gift for one of your kids for the holidays, this is it!

What starts off as a simple geocached puzzle turns into a dangerous game when twins Eli and Joel, along with their foster sister Noe, find an empty pill bottle at one of the locations. An empty pill bottle with the name of a woman who winds up dead later that night.

The more the three teens uncover at each location, the deadlier the puzzle becomes.

Because as much as they want to find the pieces and to figure out where (or to whom) the clues are leading, someone else wants those clues to stay hidden.

And if they aren’t fast enough, the next body that surfaces might be one of their own.

(Trigger: It IS a murder mystery, which means some people die. No gore, but there are murders happening in the town and the kids wind up trying to solve it. Additionally, there's talk of a drug ring.)

PROMOTIONS!

Also... as a reminder Four Seconds is still on sale for a few more days at $.99

And later this month From Ashes and From Gunpowder will both be free (the 11th and the 22nd, I believe, but I'll remind you of those dates when they come).

If you enjoy these books, please tell your friends!!!

OCTOBER RECIPE

And in honor of the candy fest of October, here is October's recipe:

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Makes (I forgot to count) at least 30

Filling:

Note: If using a mold or if you want a really creamy center, you can scale back the sugar to 2 C. With the reduced sugar, you might have to get it good and cold in the refrigerator if you're rolling it into balls. It will be worth it because it is so creamy and awesome, but it requires foresight, which can be lacking in this household.

3 oz. cream cheese

2 1/2 T butter

2 1/3 C powdered sugar

1/4 C peanut butter

Beat cream cheese and butter together. Beat in powdered sugar, then peanut butter.

Roll into balls and cover with melted chocolate. You'll probably use about 1 C or 6 oz. chocolate.

How to melt chocolate:

I do it lazy style. I pour chocolate chips (semi-sweet or bittersweet) onto a plate and microwave in 20 second intervals, mixing each time the microwave dings until they're melted.

You can also use a double boiler and just pour them into the top and mix until melted.

If you don't have a double boiler or a microwave, you can put a bowl over a pan of boiling water (as in find a bowl with a top just bigger than your pan's top so the bowl is suspended above the bottom of the pan). Then get the water boiling and mix the chocolate in the bowl until it melts. But seriously, this is the type of instruction that keeps people from doing this sort of thing. Just put it in the microwave. 20 second intervals.

Dribble and harden. And eat. With joy. With love. Power. Beauty.
