Cover Reveal! Pulse: A Paramedic's Walk Along the Lines of Life and Death

My head is swimming with all the exciting things that are happening. First and foremost, after much anticipation and a long wait for the perfect cover, Pulse: A Paramedic's Walk Along the Lines of Life and Death is finally here! And I love the cover with my whole heart (pun intended).
It's a collection of essays about my husband's twenty-three years (and counting) as a paramedic. Not only that, but occasionally I hop in to give my two cents from the spouse's perspective. These essays are sometimes sad, sometimes hopeful, sometimes a strange place in between--a place that EMS workers have to confront on the daily.
You can find the Kindle version HERE (or read for free on Kindle Unlimited) or you can get the paperback HERE.
Read the blurb below:
In this debut collection of essays, Pace tells of his years as a career paramedic—wandering through the highs and the lows, the saves and the losses, the patients he remembers, and the ones he tries to forget.
In 1997, Pace began his career as an EMT because he wanted to do something exciting. He wanted to help people too. And he thought those two things—excitement and helping people—would exist hand in hand. With a little sprinkle of glory thrown in for good measure.
Twenty-three years and thousands of calls later—as an EMT, then paramedic, working in a helicopter and on the ground—he still hasn’t stumbled onto any glory, and he’s tired of the excitement. But some nights, even now, he finds scraps of humanity—beautiful pieces in the broken-up mosaic of the world.

Praise from Kevin Hazzard, author of A Thousand Naked Strangers: A Paramedic’s Wild Ride to the Edge and Back
Hilarious, tragic, and absolutely unforgettable—just like the job itself. Pulse thrums with a kinetic blast, yet chooses all the right moments to slow it down and let us feel the gravity of the situation. And while it’s said the best couples finish each other’s sentences, James and JK write them. I’ve read harrowing and comic stories of life in an ambulance, but never one where the spouse interjects to scoop up lost details or flip the perspective. The effect is magic.
I really hope you all grab a copy and love it.
And if that's not enough excitement, From Ashes will be available for sale on March 29th. If you'd like to preorder, you can click HERE.
And if that's just not enough for you, you can look below for some other nonfiction books you might enjoy. As always, I'll add my disclaimer that I haven't read most of these books and therefore cannot personally recommend them. However, they looked fantastic. Have a look!
OTHER BOOKS TO TRY!
Sober Ever After ($.99): Fans of Four Seconds will probably enjoy this book. It's Jackie's story of life after wine took over her life. It looks funny and awesome!
Been Dead Never Been to Europe ($3.99): I'm not gonna lie. I wanted to feature this one for the title alone. At first I thought this was just going to be a funny miracle story. But when I read the description on Amazon, I realized that it's so much more than a miracle story. Yes, there's a miraculous recovery in it, but then it also deals with the difficult issues of recovering your mind, your health, and your talents after a severe physical trauma.
Your Attitude of Gratitude: Develop Simple Gratitude Skills for Better Living (FREE with email sign up): Simple and effective science-based strategies to destroy pessimism and start seeing the world and your life as the beautiful gift it really is!
A Thousand Naked Strangers: A Paramedic's Wild Ride to the Edge and Back ($14.99): I have read this book, and it's incredible. Not only is it the most well-known paramedic memoir around, but when I reached out to Kevin Hazzard about reviewing Pulse, fully expecting not to hear a word from him, I was surprised and delighted that he replied, then read and reviewed the book. I was already a fan of Kevin's work; now I'm also a fan of Kevin himself. He did not ask me to include this, and I'm sure my little corner of the writing universe won't have a big impact on his bigger corner of the universe, but I wanted to include it anyway because it's a fantastic read.
