If you're planning a trip around Japan, whether you're here or on the way, here are some of our favorite things to see, eat, and do all over the country that aren't Tokyo or Osaka! You've probably seen every other guidebook and site plug Disneyland, Fushimi Inari Shrine, etc. - and they are gorgeous destinations! But we want to take a deep dive into the parts of Japan that deserve equally as much attention!

Top 12 Things to Do in Aomori

While New York is known as the 'Big Apple,' apples are precisely what Aomori is known for. It's home to one of the countries most impressive cider factories where you can sink your teeth into their world famous apples, apple chips, and of course, cider! Then if you want something really unique to try, you might consider the 'miso curry milk ramen!'

Top 21 Things to Do in Fukuoka

Also known as Noel Gallagher's favorite prefecture, Fukuoka isn't just another city, but a blend of urban energy and tranquil nature. From the bustling street stalls of Hakata to the serene temples and shrines, Fukuoka promises a unique experience. Relish the savory Hakata ramen, stroll through Ohori Park, or experience a yatai (street food stall) evening like no other!

Our Favorite Things to Do in Nara

Nara beckons with its centuries-old temples, majestic deer roaming free, and a rich tapestry of culture waiting to be unraveled. This is where the earliest Japanese empires were born! Visit the Todai-ji Temple, home to the world's largest bronze Buddha, or take a leisurely walk in Nara Park, where friendly deer might just nuzzle up to you. But be warned, some of the deer can be cheeky and give you a little nibble on your behind! However, if you're smart, you'll grab a few shika-senbei (deer crackers) to feed them and they'll be your best friends!
