Why Preorder a Book? 📚

Mar 24, 2025 10:03 pm

What’s the benefit of preordering a book?

  1. You may be locking in a lower price.
  2. You may forget you did it—and have a lovely surprise when it arrives in your mailbox or on your device. (I can’t be the only one who experiences this!)
  3. You won’t forget you wanted to read it when it releases.
  4. It helps booksellers gauge reader interest and decide if and how many print copies to stock.
  5. Reader interest increases visibility of the upcoming book. This helps other readers find the book.

Don’t like to preorder? No worries. When there’s a book you want, write yourself a note to look for it on release day. And/or add it to your Goodreads (or other) to-read wishlist as a reminder.

I have an ebook suggestion for you below. My copy’s already preordered through Kobo.

But first… What’s happening with my Green Dory Inn series?

Draft 1 of book 5 (still untitled) is finally in progress. It feels so good to be out of the plotting, planning, prewriting stage and into actually writing the story. I’ll have more details to share as the year progresses, but for now I’m happy to be hanging out with my imaginary friends again.

They’d like some peace and quiet, but a body has been found…

In the meantime, what’s this book I think you might like to preorder?

Ebook reader with cover: Don't Blink: 12 Inspirational suspense thrillers. Plus smaller images of each included book.

If you like Christian thrillers and psychological suspense, you’ll want to check out the upcoming boxed set, Don’t Blink, including stories from Jordyn Redwood, Heather Day Gilbert, Camy Tang, and Vikki Kestell. It’s scheduled to release this fall, but you can lock in your price by preordering now at https://books2read.com/dontblink/. (Or click on the image above.) You can choose Apple, Kindle, Nook, or Kobo.

Canadian subscribers, if you (like me) are watching for ways to shop Canadian, please note that Kobo is a “made in Canada” company (although it’s now a subsidiary of Rakuten, a Japanese company). Here’s a Wikipedia link for details about Kobo.

Bonus perk for Canadians shopping Kobo: we earn rewards points, which Amazon.ca have not yet rolled out to us. As with other e-reader apps, the Kobo app is free for your phone or tablet.

Wherever this finds you, thank you for opening my email and I wish you a lovely week with some time for a good book.

Until next time,
