The Two Wolves: Starve Hate, Nourish Love

Dear ,

I'm writing to you today to share a story that I hope will inspire you to let go of hate and anger, and to instead choose to nourish love and compassion in your life.

The story is about an old Cherokee grandfather who is teaching his grandson about the two wolves that live inside of us all.

"A fight is going on inside everyone," the grandfather says after his grandson was done ranting about a friend who hurt him. "It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. Both are ever at war, my son."

The grandson asks, "Which wolf will win?"

The grandfather says, "The one you feed."

Facebook memories reminded me of this story. I shared it on my timeline sometime in 2013. This story is a powerful reminder that we have the power to choose which emotions we focus on. When we focus on negative emotions like anger, hate, and resentment, we are feeding the evil wolf. This can lead to a life that is full of pain and suffering.

However, when we focus on positive emotions like love, joy, and compassion, we are feeding the good wolf. This can lead to a life that is full of peace, happiness, and fulfillment.

So, the next time you find yourself feeling angry or resentful, take a moment to pause and ask yourself, "Am I feeding the evil wolf?"

If the answer is yes, then choose to focus on something positive instead. Think about something that makes you happy, or do something kind for someone else. When you do this, you are feeding the good wolf and making the world a better place.

I hope this story inspires you to choose love over hate, and to nourish the good wolf inside of you, .
