Beauty In Splashed Colours
Glee greetings,
Welcome back to another edition of "Jaachị's Daily Musings." Since I started this daily writing routine, my mind has been a black hole of thoughts pulling into itself myriads of ideas. It's both beautiful and terrifying. Beautiful, because I get to think new thoughts that leave me in awe and full of profound knowledge. Terrifying because the whirlwind of ideas just won't stopa swirling. It's 5AM, Thursday morning and I am awake with yet another thought. I'll sum it up in this sentence: "The sweet thing about splashed colours is the beauty in a mistake."
[I'm going to pause here to say hello to "ụtọ m." BrB.]
Tada! I'm am back!
Artists, like every other category of creatives, often find themselves obsessing over perfection, striving to create flawless masterpieces. However, I believe there's a hidden charm in the unpredictable, spontaneous moments – the happy accidents that unexpectedly shape art. I'll elucidate what this means as I unravel the moral lesson embedded in these "splashed colours."
[At this point, my thoughts derail. I remember the pot of corn I am cooking on my heat plate. I'll go check it and hope my thoughts get on track. Time stamp, 5:55AM.]
[It's 6:01. Agbado is boiling. I'm going to have an aMAIZEing morning. Okay, back to spalshed colours... I'll compress my thoughts in 5 points.]
1. Embrace Imperfections: Life is not about perfection; it's about embracing imperfections with open arms. Just like how a misplaced brushstroke can lead to unexpected beauty in a painting, our mistakes and flaws make us unique and human. Yes, those dark times/shades add colour to our existence. Instead of being disheartened by our errors, let's learn to celebrate them as opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
2. The Beauty of Serendipity: Some of history's greatest discoveries and, of course, paintings, were born from accidents or chance encounters. The same is true in the realm of reality (lol, this sounds somehow). Surrendering ourselves to the flow of creativity can open doors to new and awe-inspiring ideas. Don’t be rigid. Be flexible. Don't be afraid to let your imagination run wide and wild and explore the uncharted territories of your mind.
3. A Lesson in Resilience: Every artist encounters setbacks along their creative journey. A misplaced stroke, a colour that doesn't blend quite right – these moments can be frustrating. But remember, it's not about the mistake itself; it's about how we handle it. True artists learn to adapt, improvise, and turn these mishaps into opportunities for innovation. This also is applicable to real life situations—it's never about the mistakes you’ve made in the past, are making presently, or will make in the future; it's about how you handle it. You can turn that misplaced colour splash into a moasiac of beautiful outcomes.
4. Discovering Your Unique Style: Often, it's through mistakes that arstists discover their true artistic style. [I have experienced this as a poet] Those little slips can lead us down a path of experimentation, helping us uncover hidden talents and fresh approaches to our life goals. So, dare to be different and embrace your own voice, even if it stems from a so-called "mistake."
5. The Joy of Unplanned Creativity: Sometime last month, during a cell meeting, my pastor threw a question at me "do you ever procrastinate?" I had a ready answer, one that's the absolute truth about me. I replied, "I am spontaneous! This makes it impossibleforme to put off tomorrow what I should do now." In our structured lives, where we meticulously plan every aspect, art (read as life) allows us to let loose and embrace spontaneity. Embracing the beauty in a mistake reminds us to savour these unplanned moments – they bring a certain magic to our life that no preconceived idea can replicate.
So, dear , don't sit and sulk over a mistake. Rather, take a moment to introspectively appreciate the beauty in that mistake.
I don't like clichés but I am tempted to employ one. Here it goes: like they say, when life throw you lemons, make a lemonade. Yes, embrace the unexpected and turn it into a source of inspiration.
Remember that the journey of creating art, like life, is just as important as the final masterpiece.
Until next time, keep splashing those colours and embracing the uniqueness of you.
Today's Haiku
Mistakes paint the way,
Splashed colors form art's ballet,
Sweet beauty's display.
Yours creatively,
