Prioritize Self-Care

Glee greetings, !

I hope this musing finds you warm and healthy amidst the harmattan. I'm writing to you today to share some thoughts on a topic that is very close to my heart: self-care.

You see, I've learned a hard lesson in my life: don't give so much of yourself to people who will not do the same for you.

it sounds simple, but it's not easy to do. We often feel obligated, guilty, or afraid to say no to others, even when they don't appreciate or respect us. We end up feeling drained, resentful, and unhappy.

But it doesn't have to be this way. We can choose to value ourselves and our needs and set healthy boundaries with others. We can say no to things that don't serve us, and yes to things that make us feel good. We can prioritize our own happiness and well-being, and still be kind and compassionate to others.

This is not selfish, .This is self-care. And self-care is not a luxury, it's a necessity. It's a way of honouring ourselves and our purpose. It's a way of showing ourselves that we matter and that we deserve love and respect.

So, how can we practice self-care? Well, there are many ways, and they may vary from person to person. But here are some ideas that work for me:

Take some time every day to do something that brings you joy

It could be reading a book, listening to music or a podcast, drawing, talking with a loved one, or anything else that makes you smile.

Express your feelings and needs honestly and respectfully

Don't bottle up your feelings or let them fester for too long, . Practice communicating your feelings with others and learn to boldly ask for what you want and need—be it space to think, time off to self-care, or just a metime to rejuvenate.

Surround yourself with positive and supportive people

Cut off communications with negative minds. They do you no good. Moreso, limit contact with toxic people who drain your energy and make you feel bad often and always. In addition, set boundaries and enforce them decisively. Don't be an open field accessible to everyone and anyone, rather be a fenced-off and gated orchard. It is for your overall well-being. People will value and respect you more.

Treat yourself with kindness and compassion

, don't be harsh or critical of yourself. Beinv harsh and self critical damoens your spirit and makes you feel inadequate. In fact, it is self sabotaging. Rather, cultivate the habit of celebrating your achievements and learning from your mistakes.

Take care of your physical health

Eat well—do less junks; they are bound to make your older self miserably sickly in the future, drink water, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. Your body is your temple, and you need to nourish it and respect it. Remember, na who healthy fit to enjoy wealth.

Take care of your mental health

Seek help if you need it, and don't be ashamed of it. You are not alone, and you are not weak. You are strong and brave for reaching out and asking for help. Don't be shy to ask for help.

Trust God

Yes, ultimately, we shouldn't forget to put our trust in God's unfailing promises. In times when life becomes uncertain and people turn their backs on you, always remember that God is ever present, watching and ordering your steps. Trust Him.

, these are just some of the ways that I practice self-care, and I hope they inspire you to do the same. Remember, you are worthy, you are valuable, and you are loved. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise or nake you feel otherwise.
