Surviving 2023

Glee greetings, !

As we approach the end of 2023, soon you will see a lot of people posting their yearly wins, big moments, and highlights. Don’t be tempted to feel inadequate or disadvantaged. It is okay if your biggest accomplishment is surviving 2023.

This year has been challenging for many of us, with the cashless policy, the economic crisis, the social unrest, and the environmental disasters. We have faced a lot of uncertainty, stress, and hardship. But we have also shown resilience, courage, and compassion. We have supported each other, learned new skills, adapted to new situations, and found joy in small things. We have survived 2023, and that is something to be proud of.

, you may feel tempted to compare yourselves with others who seem to have achieved more, done more, or had more fun this year. You may see their posts on social media and feel inadequate or disadvantaged. But please don't fall into that trap.

Remember, everyone has their own pace, path, and struggles. You don't know what they have gone through, what they have sacrificed, or what they have hidden. You really don't need to measure your success by someone else's standards. You only need to focus on your own growth, happiness, and well-being.

So, as you bid farewell to 2023, celebrate your survival. Appreciate what you have, what you have learned, and what you have overcome. Be grateful for your health, family, friends, and community of kindred spirits. Be kind to yourself and look forward to 2024 with hope, optimism, and curiosity.

I wish you the best for the new year. Until next time, stay sane and stay strong.
