not appreciate rainbow lines

because they reason in black & white

February. 22. 2021. That day, a friend reminded me of an obvious fact. She said; “Jaachi, you’re almost thirty. How does it feel like?” That was when this chapbook title hit me. 30!

I had questions begging for answers:

• How will thirty feel like? Great? Meh?
• What achievement have I to boast of?
• Has the past thirty years been fruitful?
• Any regrets? Or joys?
• Are there tales I am yet to tell?
• Just what?

To provide answers, I picked up my pen and started writing, and saving, and scrapping, and rewriting, and trashing and rewriting. The product of this quest is what you have in your hands today- 30, a collection of poems about unrelated issues that actually connects the dots of my existence.

 As I turn thirty, transitioning into another decade, this is a gift from me to you. It is a reminder of the subtlety of the struggles I encounter as I snake through this journey- life. This collection will tell the story of chaotic frailty, the never-ending war between multi-coloured-coated morals and prancing of the mind and how I take solace in words- that crevice of aloneness I crawl back to after the ovation fades and reality is stripped naked.
