Today, I want to share a valuable lesson that applies not only to writing but to any endeavor in life: You need to fail to succeed.
, think back to when you were learning to walk. It was not an instant mastery; it was a process. You started by crawling, finding your way around with determination. Then, little by little, you mustered the strength to lift your body and stand up, relying on the support of furniture as you took those wobbly first steps.
But do you remember what happened next, ? Yes, you fell. Over and over again, you stumbled and landed on your little bum. But did that stop you? Absolutely not! You had a burning desire to walk, and you knew that falling was just a part of the journey.
Your determination and resilience were unwavering. You got up each time, brushed off the dust, and tried again. Failure was not an obstacle; it was a stepping stone towards success. And you know what happened when you finally made it across the living room? Your family cheered, celebrating your achievement!
Now , let me tell you that succeeding as a writer is no different. You may write countless pieces that you consider subpar before you produce something truly remarkable. You may face rejection and receive lousy proposals before you pitch the perfect one. The path to success is paved with failures, and you must take every step along the way if you truly want to arrive at your destination.
So, I encourage you to embrace failure as a necessary part of the journey. Collect those rejection letters proudly, for they are evidence that you are pushing yourself and taking risks. Every "no" brings you closer to a "yes." Yes!
In fact, I have a personal anecdote to share with you. Just last week, I received three rejection letters from reputable literary publishers. But I am not discouraged; instead, I am grateful for those "no's." I know that someday soon, the "yeses" will come, and they may even come from the very same publishers who turned me away. It's all part of the process, and I am determined to keep moving forward.
Remember, , success rarely comes without failure. So, keep writing, keep submitting, and keep pushing yourself beyond your limits. Trust in your abilities, learn from your mistakes, and never lose sight of your ultimate goal.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible community of subscribers. I can't wait to celebrate your newest YES!
Wishing you all the best in your creative endeavours.
