My girl didn’t really care about my storytelling time 😩

She would just flip to the end and not get anything in...

But everything changed when I stopped showering her the “baby books”...

I even ditched the reading pens altogether 🤪

As a language acquisition expert, I realized those "first books" are not designed to nurture readers

They are fundamentally toys and designed to keep your child busy (not in a way you want)

They are distractions.

For sure they are fun :)  

But young readers need:

#1 - Books that can provide relevant value beyond "first words"

#2 - Engaging questions

to truly turn on the active learning mode.

Now everyone, from all walks of life and all ages, love my storytelling time.

Because my storytelling techniques allowed me to speak to their mind, get them hooked and make them THINK.

Yes, I still need a little bit of drama, but I don’t have to be a clown or a crazy drama queen. Nothing that far.
