The year I stopped showing up
Jun 21, 2026 11:46 pm
I used to do ONLY parent coaching.
Five years straight. No breaks. Not even during Chinese New Year.
I still showed up.
Every tantrum. Every meltdown. Every exhausted mom or dad sitting across from me, hoping I had the magic words to fix everything.
And honestly? I loved it.
But here's what I didn't tell anyone:
I was running on empty for at least two of those years.
I thought taking a break meant letting people down. I thought pausing meant failing. So I just kept going. Chinese New Year? Showed up. Sick? Showed up. Exhausted? Showed up.
Until one day I couldn't.
That's when I realized something uncomfortable.
I had been teaching parents to take care of themselves while completely failing to take care of myself.
So I stepped back. Not because I stopped caring. Because I finally understood that you can't pour from an empty cup — even if that cup really, really wants to help.
Now I do things differently. I share all the best-kept language-learning secrets through self-study courses at really affordable prices.
So I can truly take a break.
And that's what I wanted to share with you today.
No lesson. No offer. Just a reminder: if you're running on empty, it's okay to pause.
The work will still be there when you get back.
Talk soon,
Ms. Truda
