Hi

Sex - The Media - Metro, Cosmopolitan & Me!

I have been working in the field of sexuality for 15 years and in that time I have seen attitudes towards sex and sensual intimacy change considerably. It is no surprise that in some countries particularly attitudes and openness to sex is changing fast. As generations come through and the so called Millennials are reaching their sexual maturity and at the same time technology has made exploring sexuality so much easier sexual exploration in some quoters is being sinn in a much broader aspect than just for reproduction or a guilty indulgence. for those looking for romance and relationship there are now myriads of dating apps. For those seeking NSA sex encounters mobile phones give us a plethora of hook up apps like Tinder, Hinge and Grindr and Feeld and of course there is the constant avalanche of porn that can be glanced at almost anywhere at any time by almost anyone.

The Real Shift

But to my mind although young people and technology are playing their part in normalising whats normal ie sex, I believe the real game changer is when the media shrug off their comfort rug of scepticism, conformity and embarrassment and start writing about sex openly and honestly. No nudge nudge giggles, no moral high ground, no 'well some people are like that' attitude but honest factual reporting talking to people who really know about sex and all its magnificently varied landscapes. This now seems to be happing.

It was in 2015 when Cosmopolitan ran an article on my work with women seeking help with orgasm that was the first sign of acceptance. Wow! women actually do want to enjoy sex! Since then, Cosmo particularly, have led the way with their All The Way sex pod casts, interviews with sex workers and advice on topics such as how to give great oral, is anal for you? Polyamory and fetish. But when publications like the (London) Metro start publishing sensible informative articles about the effect of Covid isolation on sex addicts (and peoples sex lives in general) we can hope that society is well on the way to having a better relationship with sex as whole (no pun intended).

If you have minute or two check these articles out.

I am so pleased Metro contacted me to ask my thoughts on sex addition. They ran this article today

And last week Cosmopolitan Magazine transcribed and printed a pod cast interview they ran last January with Cee Cee about her experience of sensual massage and how it has changed her life.

If you haven't done it already you are invited to do it now
