July 2023
Things are heating up!
Summertime is here and we are busier than ever. Between attending an educational conference in Denver, volunteering in Baja, and participating in our first Thursday night Farmer’s Market, IKT has been on the go.
We look forward to enjoying time on our beaches in this beautiful place we call home. First, let’s take a look at some of the exciting things we’ve been up to.
- The team is still buzzing from the recent Psychedelic Science 2023 conference. We loved getting to meet so many like-minded individuals who are focused using psychedelics for mental health in a safe and scientifically-backed way. (Case-in-point: The FDA recently announced new guidance for researching psychedelics to treat PTSD, depression, and other mental health disorders). During the five day conference, we attended incredible presentations by thought-leaders and media powerhouses, including Tim Ferris and Andrew Huberman, and learned about microdosing psilocybin, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, and ayahuasca journeys. Further, we are really excited to learn that the FDA may approve the use of MDMA to treat PTSD by next year!

- IKT hosted an open house for local therapists, psychologists, and other mental healthcare providers and healers. The two-hour interactive forum was a perfect opportunity to collaborate, ask questions, and learn about ketamine, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, and the latest in mental health treatments.

- Once again, I had the opportunity to travel to San Quentin in Baja, California to complete another weekend of volunteer surgery. To my surprise, the clinic was twice as busy as it was the last time I was there in January, and there was no way that we could treat all the patients in such a short amount of time. All together, we were able to successfully complete twenty operations—mostly consisting of gallbladder and tumor removals, and hernia repairs. The Flying Samaritans is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-saving medical work to communities who otherwise have no access to healthcare. We’re looking for ways to expand the reach of our care. Please let me know if you’re interested in finding out how you can help!
