We have some great things happening in the neighborhood. The new bathroom and playground facilities at the walking trail are a long-sought and exciting addition to our community. Improvements happening along McCullough are positive, and work is progressing on the YOSA redevelopment of the former school on Oblate. 

Bond funds and the decisions that get made as they are proposed present significant opportunities for us (as well as significant obstacle if we aren’t adequately engaged). To that end, all of us on the board would encourage everyone to complete the McCullough bond survey. 

Specifically, we are advocating for a complete reworking of McCullough to make the street safer and more beautiful: a tree lined avenue with bike lanes, complete sidewalks. This would include a restructuring/reengineering of the road base to protect against heaving and humping caused by our expansive and unstable soils. 

McCullough redone in this fashion, would elevate our neighborhood and make it more livable and beautiful.

Other items for conversation at the May 28 meeting include: 

1) Zoning Change requests for a proposed Tattoo Parlor in the space formerly occupied by the bingo hall;

2) New date for the neighborhood garage sale; and 

3) Updates from SAPD, COSA, Bexar County, and our other elected officals. 

Originally planned for this meeting, TXDot has postponed until our August meeting.
