*No SHRNA Meeting This Week*

Mar 25, 2024 3:32 pm

Greetings neighbors!

I hope this update finds everyone well and enjoying the beginning of spring! Originally, we were to be seeing each other this Thursday, March 27. However, given that it is Holy Week, Blessed Sacrament reached out, saying that they will not be hosting any outside events. We're working on settling a make-up date in April and should have that figured out soon. I will let you know right away! In the meantime, there are a few items of interest to update you on.

CASTRO/MIGRANT CENTER

Our neighbor, Toni Morelli, has been working to schedule a meeting with Congressman Castro and the SHRNA board regarding the Migrant Relocation Center. It looks likely to take place on April 2nd. We'd like to represent as many voices as possible during this meeting, so if you have any feedback, please email your thoughts in a concise form by Monday, April 1st to info.shrna@gmail.com, Subject: Castro.

CAN YOU HELP SHARE THE WORD?

Some of you recently received one of our beautiful new SHRNA door hangers designed by Alexis and Mark Hiebert -- Jeph Duarte gathered a team of neighborhood kids who distributed them in a big section of the neighborhood! A huge thanks to these three and the kids, for making this happen! We have many, many more doors to visit and need your help. If you can help us distribute door hangers to your area of the neighborhood, or an area that has not been delivered, please let us know and a batch of door hangers will be delivered to you!

BERNAL's FIESTA FOOD DRIVE

State Representative Diego Bernal's office updated us, stating that they are conducting the "Fiesta Medal Food Drive" on April 20th from 9 am to 12 pm at 5252 Blanco Rd. They are accepting non-perishables items only, no glass! If donors bring a bag of non-perishables, they get a medal!

TEX DOT UPDATE

A neighbor submitted a request for information regarding the future closure of the McCullough/410 overpass. I spoke with Richard De La Cruz from TxDOT who said he would be happy to have phone conversations with any concerned neighbors, and sent the link below as well. He can be reached at 210-216-8587. https://www.txdot.gov/projects/hearings-meetings/san-antonio/archive/101320.html

FREE COMPOST

Kenneth Parker, an avid gardener and neighbor, informed me over the weekend that the City of San Antonio is offering *FREE COMPOST* (while it lasts)! You can load up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bitters Brush Recycling Center located at 1800 Wurzbach Pkwy. More information is available on the CoSA website under Solid Waste Management.

GARAGE SALE UPDATE

A big thanks goes out to Josh Medina for creating the garage sale flyer again this year. We had nine homes participate! The weather was beautiful, so hopefully that means everyone had successful business!

As always, thank you for being an active member of our super cool neighborhood. It is really wonderful to call this place home! Also, thank you for reading this far, I know it was a lot!
