I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
The most important re-commitment I had to make this week was to bring service to myself to preeminence.
It’s so easy to get caught in the service of others and make them a priority.
I realised there were a couple of things that God has asked me to do for myself.
Let me put it better.
I have to do them in service of the goals He has demanded of me.
The problem is that I have been pushing these things to the last things in the day. The effect is that time runs out, and I am not able to do any of them.
Maybe it’s fear that makes me keep them to the last thing for the day.
Now I am giving them preeminence.
I’m putting them on the stuff I’ll be doing during the first half of the day.
And if need be, face my fears early in the day.
Making first the things I have to do for myself on God’s behalf
Things I Learnt
1 - The Journey is Important: During a performance review meeting with the teams I oversee, I made a promise to them.
It was not a new promise. I just felt it was important to remind them of it as we turn it up for the second half of the year.
My promise: I would back them in any decision they make in their areas, even if it leads to an unfavourable outcome.
As long as they have a great journey towards coming to that decision.
A simple process for the decision is sufficient.
Nobody should be afraid to make a decision or wait for me before making a decision if they are equipped to do so.
I reminded them.
And I’ll probably keep doing that.
Why?
Because people need to be reminded more and more about the power they have in the role they work in.
2 - When God Makes Simple Things Impossible: I was meant to have a meeting with my spiritual director during the week.
I had had a long day the previous day.
I joined him at 2 am to be part of the group of men I was supporting him in mentoring them. I was up an hour earlier because I didn’t realise that a bit of summer time adjustment had happened.
Eventually, I went to bed past 3 am. I was up early because I had an 8:30 am meeting. This went on till about noon.
A few more meetings later, and I had to meet him at 3 pm.
I wanted to postpone our meeting. I went on the app and got the message “It’s past the time to change the time for the meeting.”
I showed up for the meeting. After hearing how my day had gone, he was willing to move the meeting to another time.
I told him that we should go on.
Why?
When God stops you from doing what you want to do, what you get must be important to Him and you.
And that’s why I showed up fully engaged for our meeting.
It was worth it.
I needed it.
Especially with how my day was going.
