Faith & Life Lessons – April 7, 2024

Welcome to the April 7th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My 1st Quarter

Welcome to Quarter 2 of 2024.

Yes, it’s official.

3 months are in the bag and a new set of 3 months is on the roll.

I decided to let you into my review of my Q1.

So instead of the usual lessons learned, I’ll be reviewing my 3 Q1 goals.

Yes, I only had 3 because of the impact that I believe having this would have on the rest of my year.

And so I present…

The Review of My Q1 Goals

1-Complete book manuscript: Yes, I have been working on a book. The book was motivated by a conversation I had with my executive mentor. She had read one of my LinkedIn posts and said it had the trappings of a good book.

And just like that, I rolled with it.

Aside from her motivation, the book also aligns with my career future steps and practice.

I didn’t complete the manuscript but I achieved about 80%.

It’s progress and I expect to complete it in April.

2 - Improve CT Productivity: This is the one goal that I didn’t have a specific target on.

The reason was simple - I was going to be leading a new team in a new firm so I was going in blind.

No matter what, every team always needs to be pushed to achieve more.

So setting a goal for improving productivity was a way to set my mind ready for the job ahead.

Yes, I have achieved a bit of progress but it’s going to be a bigger climb.

My team works within an ecosystem - the rest of the company.

And I know that unless a common language and philosophy permeate the organization, my team would revert type.

And so I reached out to the Human Capital Management team for company-wide training aimed at improving workplace productivity, driving personal growth and enhancing personal excellence.

The goal is to get a common language going in the company.

I’ll be doing this in April.

3 - Sign up 3 new clients for practice: I did not achieve this at all.

Yes, there were excuses but I don’t give myself one.

I measure myself by results.

I intend to meet this target in Q2

Postscript

May you never excuse yourself from pushing yourself to achieve the best results you can deliver every time. Amen.
