Welcome to the January 1st edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of a New Year
Happy New Year.
A few years back, I changed my view about the importance of January 1.
I still believe in New Year but I extended it to focus on creating New Seasons.
Interestingly, my last 2-3 years have started from October of the previous year and not January 1.
A new year or new season only starts for me when I raise the expectation level for what I can deliver during the next season of life I go into.
I started my New Year in October.
I got the opportunity to speak with a couple of people today about creating new seasons.

Things I Have Learnt About Winning in a new Year or Season
1-Simplicity Wins: You don't win by over-complicating what you want to achieve in a new season.
Simplify it into something you can easily remember and understand.
Make it a game you understand the rules you defined for it.
A game you can have fun with.
And reward yourself when you win.
2-Do Less, not More: Don't have many goals, have few goals for shorter periods.
Always keep reworking your goals.
But more than that, keep working on yourself.
The better you get at being the person God wants you to be, the quicker you become at achieving your goals.
Start by doing less and not more.
Postscript
May simplicity rule your thinking as you walk with courage into this new season. May this season see you become better at living the life God has marked out for you. Amen
