Faith & Life Lessons | The Gift of Time

image

Welcome to the May 17th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.

This was a week of different emotions.

Excited to celebrate my dad’s birthday.

But feeling the blues after one of the teachers in our kids’ school passed on.

Celebration of life and recognition of the end ahead for all of us.

Both are gifts from God. Gifts that we must learn to use.

Joyful gratitude and Sober reflection.

They are gifts and tools.

I am using them.

To refine how I am showing up every day.

To refocus on why I am doing the things I do.

To do better at what I do and what I will do

Things I Learned

1-The Challenge of Manhood: As part of celebrating my dad’s birthday, I published a short book titled “27 Lessons I learned from my dad”

I shared the link to the book online.

One of the most interesting pieces of feedback was from a guy who told me that he was surprised to read what I published because, in his assessment, sons are not usually close to their fathers.

Reflecting on this was a reminder of the responsibility I have to live up to the highest ideals of manhood.

My family must see the true measure of a man through me.

2-The Faith for Now: One of the things I tell myself in recent times is that I have too much to do with no time to do it.

This has changed.

Why.

Because I choose to live in the full abundance that God has given me for this season.

My new statement is this: “I have time to do the most important things”

This is forcing me to focus my attention on the most important things that should take up my time.

Not everything will get my attention.

The things I get to do in the time I have will be the things I should be doing.

I have the gift of time from God.

And I have time to do all God wants me to do.

At work, in my practice, for my family, in my ministry.

And in life.

PostScript

May you faithfully use the gift of time God has given you. Amen
